My experience was terrible. At first he seemed kind, but that was short lived. 2nd visit he was arrogant &condescending. I couldn't walk without crutches and he gave me an NSAID. I had a follow up 2 weeks later with no improvement. I was told I had arthritis. I do a lot of weight lifting so I obviously sprained something. I asked him what do If my condition doesn't improve. He told me that we will cross that bridge when we get to it. I had assumed that we were at that bridge because I couldn't walk. I then got a hip x ray that didn't show anything. I asked if I could please get a steroid since the NSAID didn't work. This experience was aweful. I was told to put on a hospital gown, put my hand forward and bend forward while the good doctor stood behind me. This was humiliating. I have switched over to Dr Levy. He is kind and my back still hurts but at least I can walk.

There are two different sides to Dr. Liss. The cocky side that doesnt have time for your concerns and tells you to live with the pain especially when interns are around. Then there is the other side that will sit with you and ask you questions. Really dont know how to take the man. Would i go back.....more than likely not.

I recently had major back surgery for spondylosis and other problems. Dr. Liss listened to the symptoms, did x-rays, MRIs, etc. and recommended surgery to repair the damage done. I could barely walk and was in extreme pain. After the surgery, I'm doing wonderfully well. I can walk again without difficulty. The surgery was complicated due to a lot of arthritis and other problems. The surgery was performed at Forbes Regional and that is an excellent facility. I'd HIGHLY recommend Dr. Robert Liss if you have serious back issues. The MOST important thing to me was he listened first and that is really appreciated. He explained, in detail, what he could and could not do. I went through with the surgery and I'm very well on my way to a full recovery.

Please heed the advice of others. Find a different doctor for your pain and orthopedic issues. I recently injured my back/sciatica in a very severe way. Mind you, I never had such trouble before and I am a bit of a wimp when it comes to pain. Having had children, I am not exaggerating when saying that pain was as intense as labor pains. First off, given that I was going to a specialist, after waiting 10 days from ER visit and completing the steroid course, I expected some imaging to confirm dx, since none were done in the ER and I did not know if that was muscle tear, pinched nerve, disk slip, fracture? I did not get a recommendation. The doctor said its a sliped disk after having me flex tip top (2 steps) and heel walk (3 steps). Secondly, I expected help with pain management. I had already been on Tylenol 10 days straight, even thought i had prior liver disease. Due to chronic kidney disease stage 3, non-steroidal are off limit to me, so I cannot alternate with Ibuproben, Naproxen. During the visit, I specifically asked for transdermal pain creams as my health problems prevent me from talking much orally but he dismissed my request as "distractions". He did say he would prescribe something for pain. I did not see the script until checkout in the hallway, although it's customary for a doctor to explain what he's prescribing. I did not care as my pain was all that concerted me. I asked the receptionist if the script was NDAIDS based. It was. She went to ask the doctor for another alternate med, then an assistant came back with "take Tylenol". At that point my husband stepped in asking for something other than Tylenol as was not helping. The assistant came back with "doctor won't give you narcotics". That reply was the most humiliating response someone could publicly give me. First, no one asked for narcotics. There are pain meds stronger than Tylenol that are not narcotics based. Second, all of this exchange took place in the hallway, in public display of others. Third. Narcotics are designed just for this purpose pain control. Yes, others can abuse it but one can quickly get a sense of who does that. Both this doctor and his staff should go back to learn compassionate care around pain management and patient's privacy.

My husband has been in the hospital for 16 days. I have seen Dr. Liss only once. My husband's broken arm has been dangling for the first 12 days, causing the bone to break through the skin from the inside, creating a hole and a threat of infection. The physician's assistant said there should have been a sling prescribed. On only one subsequent visit , Dr. Liss was rude and condescending. He should refresh his orthopedic knowledge and also get an attitude adjustment. Extremely dissatisfied.

I had the bad luck to be seen by Dr. Liss after I ended up in the hospital unable to move without pain when one of my lower back disks herniated. After 3 days in the hospital on muscle relaxints I had an MRI done. After the MRI he said nothing was wrong and I needed to walk/exercise and he sent me home. At the time I could barely shuffle and I was in pain. It was not until I saw him in his office 3 days later that he bothered to tell me that I had a herniated disk. Once again his solution was for me to walk, see a physical therapist and take vioxx. He also sarcasticly told me during a later visit when I said I was still in pain that It was caused by me getting old (I was in my early 30's). It was not until weeks later that I felt the disk finally slide back in while trying to do stretches given to me by a physical therapist. I ended up on crutches for a year and still have back problems.

Went to Dr Liss with a compression fracture of T12. He never told me that there was a 4 week timeframe to have a corrective procedure to expand the bone. He let months pass waiting for healing then when I asked about having the procedure, he said it was too late. Xray staff was unprofessional and had to repeat most of my films and usually did not have RT or film badges on. Dr Liss would walk into the room with a resident and never introduce the other person to me. I was put into a room at 8am and could not sit on the table because the white paper was all wrinkled and dirty and the table had plaster dust on it from the day before. Office staff did not fax my disability paperwork in time and I missed 2 weeks pay. When I nicely reminded the woman how important this was she was indifferent and annoyed.
