when i look up surrey sleep clinic with this doctor it says it is a private clinic, anyone have any info? i didn't have to pay it is all covered with bc medical so i am confused with it saying in there website that it is a private clinic? i wonder if UBC and Abbotsford are the only REAL sleep clinics? i know there is a long waiting list for those places. any feed back would be much appreciated. thanks

He wasn't very helpful in offering advice on who to go to for oral appliances for sleep apnea. He said he wasn't familiar with all the appliances or the places to go. So I had to google it and get more information. His bedside manner is not very warm and it seems like he couldn't care less. He isn't very sympathetic.

This doctor is more or less useless and has a bad attitude to top it off. He told me that my symptoms made no sense to him. I said that I get severe headaches and pain in my eyes on days that my cpap mask slips off, and that the headaches and pain sometimes last for days. He said "Sorry, I don't understand what pain means, so this means nothing to me. You can't just tell me that you experience pain." He tried to frame what I was saying as "nonsensical" and he told me that I "didn't know what I was saying". He obviously isn't keeping up with his knowledge. Another doctor explained to me that what I was experiencing are called cluster headaches, and they happen to people with adrenal issues who have had untreated OSA for years. He said the only cure for them is lots and lots of rest.

Dr Minhas seems to have a practice that only favors using one company to provide the sleep apnea equipment. The way he talks he is getting a part of the profit from the sale of the equipment. All other people cannot be incapable of taking care of my needs as a sleep apnea patient. He has a monopoly here and should be better controlled by the physicians college. He is making money from the Rx's that he is writing that is just not right.

I have worked with Dr. Minhas for almost 15 years and upon reading some reviews I feel I need to comment and submit my personal experiences with him. At time any doctors mannerisms can be off setting but that's our interpretation and perception. He is a valued health care professional and has supported my needs completely and thoroughly. I have been to his Richmond and newest Surrey locations for trials and therapy. I highly recommend him as I have seen Carewell and others and disliked my experiences. Minhas has gone above and beyond for me and has advocated for my needs and therapies, I really admire his practise as well as his advice and thoughtfulness.

Very rude and disrespectful person. I was referred because I have issues with sleeping, not to criticized and rebuffed. Minhas didn't even listen to me but started to make judgements about me. I've never met a doctor with an attitude like his before. Avoid him if you can.

Dr. Minhas has high invoice costs to MSP because of all the overnight sleep tests, at Richmond Hospital, and now in Surrey -- that he arranges to determine if patients need CPAP machines. He doesn't get to put all the money he bills MSP into his pocket. He will pay office and staff overhead, interpret sleep study results, communicate with family doctors, and a host of other costs involved in running a practice. He and all other doctors only end up with a fraction of MSP billings in their pockets. You are writing about a specialist here, a person who spent over twenty years helping to get the Richmond sleep clinic up and running, and who has helped countless people over his career. Sleep apnea cannot be cured, it is up to the afflicted person to be compliant on CPAP, or with any treatments suggested by the specialist, and make the lifestyle changes necessary to help themselves. In my case, Dr. Minhas diagnosed me with an odd sleep disorder that can be treated on CPAP, and I have found him to be a very caring and excellent doctor. He is not a technician, he is an old-school psychiatrist and sleep specialist. Good doctors can get crabby, just like all human beings. In my opinion, some of the best doctors do not bother too much about bedside manner. Remember "House" on TV. I would rather have a doctor who knows what he is doing, with a lousy bedside manner, than a charming doctor who pretends to care and is lacking a true vocation. Please people, lets be fair.
