After a 9 month ordeal that began with a massive kidney stone and 4 subsequent operations due to complications, I was finally on the mend. Following, I was referred to a Nephrologist for a full work-up and regular monitoring. My surgeon referred me to a particular practice. It was my good, rather great fortune that Dr. Shirani happened to be the doctor available on the particular date that best fit my schedule for an appointment. To begin, her staff is extremely welcoming on the phone and in person. Dr. Shirani has always seen me at my appointed time; never late in the 3 years I've been seeing her in the New Haven office (free parking). In addition, she reviews a patient's chart in advance of the appointment so that she is well prepared for the visit. Her explanation of things is presented clearly and in detail. She is always professional, friendly and personable, making me feel quite at ease. Additionally, Dr. Shirani makes it a point to keep my Internist apprised of everything. In the past 10 years I've had some rather serious health issues arise and have been referred to several different types of specialists based on my needs. Having dealt with a variety of specialists in different locations, I can honestly say that if Dr. Shirani could miraculously specialize in all areas that pertain to my needs, I'd choose her as my doctor, in each case, in a heartbeat. I've raved about Dr. Shirani to my Internist so that she can refer patients in need to Dr. Shirani. Excellent doctor; excellent staff.
