[Consultation] I felt the need to leave a rating given some of the polarizing comments below. Dr. Lawless was a competent, patient and forthright doctor. He diagnosed an issue that had eluded previously-consulted doctors and was sure to take the time to answer all of my questions. My one gripe would be the wait time, but that comes part and parcel with any specialist appointment, particularly at a large hospital. Staff were great, and an overall pleasant experience.

Words would not even begin to describe the sheer amount of pain and grief I feel for what he did to me. Multiple doctors I had seen after he performed a surgery on me, in which he deviated from what we discussed and done something I did not consent to, all questioned the necessity and logic of his decision. I have no doubt that he views patients and their precious bodies as meat bags to be cut into and played with as a demonstration of his God complex.

Stay away from this doctor. Very arrogant and lacks compassion for patients. Wouldn't listen to patients needs and always had a comeback line.

I had an excellent experience with Dr. Lawless and his team. I found him to be very friendly, attentive and made sure I understood everything about my procedure.

I can't believe the difference in experiences for Dr. Lawless between some I see here and my own. Dr. Lawless was nothing short of amazing in all respects. Friendly, empathetic, helpful, patient, and on and on. He took the time to ensure I understood everything that was happening to me medically, and was very generous with his time to have me ask all the questions I wanted. I would recommend him in a heartbeat.

I can only assume that Dr. Lawless is competent in the OR because he certainly lacks in basic common decency, to the point where, in all my years of dealing with doctors on behalf of my father over two decades during which my father has been a post transplant out patient, this doctor is among the worst. Perhaps if you're a candidate for surgery he's great, but for those who do not require surgery, he is arrogant, dismissive and deals summarily and without compassion. I am thankful that we will not require his care at this time and will use the intervening months to determine how to stay out of his care and that of his team should the chronic illness that my father suffers from, with his complicated medical condition, persists. In my opinion, being good with the hands is only half the job and it's the other half that requires care and respect where Dr. Lawless and his team lack and make them incompetent, in my books.

Anybody had a bad experience with this man must have had a very rare occarance. I am sorry for your encounter. in 2010 dr lawless saved my life a few times, I was in icu for 4 months then another 2 months in critical care , his personal interest and outstanding bedside matter was enough to make any dying man feel better. his knowledge and honesty was direct and not butter or sugar coated. after leaving the hospital with lots of scars both physically and emotionally I followed up with dr lawless for 48 months and he saved my life. there will be a special seat in the great younder what ever that may be. c Glenn Boland

The keys to a great Doctor is competence & empathy--Dr Lawless excels in both. If having general surgery is necessary, you're fortunate to have Dr. Lawless as your surgeon. Follow up was thorough and results excellent.
