Dr. Matherne’s attitude has changed toward patients. From 20 minutes down to a possible 5 minutes time to discuss any health issue now, that we have developed health issues. He does not listen when a caregiver asks him to check their loved one. He simply asked me if I thought I knew my loved one better than he did. I told him that I definitely did. I knew him better than he knew himself and my LO agreed. With me pushing for further testing, his opinion of nothing wrong with my LO was most definitely incorrect. My LO was diagnosed with Lewy Body Parkinson’s Dementia!
He also had me to set up an appointment for a procedure for myself just recently, that he is not qualified to do, but I trusted him. I have a copy of the paperwork I provided to the front desk for that next appointment. When I arrived on my appointment day, I was very sick with other medical issues that needed addressed ; however, he barged in very wild like, as my husband stated it, and asked why I was there. I told him he schedule me for a thyroid aspiration and he said very emphatically no, I did not. I again, said “you said if nobody was taking care of that nodule you would do it yourself. “ He sad I am not a pathologist. I told him I knew that but he said it needed to be done and I had always trusted him. He left the room, said nothing., so after 3 minutes I left. A nurse took me to see the office manager when she heard
me talking and knew I was upset. The office manager ask me if he had started acting weird since Covid?
.I told her I had no idea. He got upset a year ago when I ask him to test my husband and to please have him draw more than a clock!!! She said he has been throwing patients out for not wearing masks. I told her he had never done that to us but had made us remove our masks. She said something had to be done with all the complaints about him not spending time with his patients and being rude like he had started doing with us , and for throwing people out. Amy Taylor promised to get us in with another doctor. When I called back everyone was rude, very abrupt and had no answers. When I asked about being sick I was told to find another doctor, I was no longer Dr Matherne’s patient. My paperwork documents my appt and what it was for, OV fluid, yet I was ousted by him. The Tennessee Medical Board needs to look into this or someone please explain these codes to me and let Dr Matherne and me take a lie detector test. This seems childish to me!
I would never recommend him to anyone until he gets help like Amy Taylor said they would try to do to help him.
