This was my first time seeing Dr Bessel for moderate to severe depression and anxiety disorder. First off, as a sign of her genuine care and warmth for patients, she had taken the lengths to call me for a telehealth appointment after I missed my appointment (and did not reschedule).
Whilst it is usually very hard to open up about mental health issues from shame, she has listened with utmost attention and made me feel heard, in the most safe and secure manner. A detailed treatment plan was crafted while she took time to explain pros and cons for each option. I could not recommend her highly enough, especially to those who feel emotionally and socially isolated from mental health struggles - a leaning, non-judgmental ear from a medical professional can often mean the whole world. (And mental health isn't even her official field of expertise!)

I saw Dr Bessell for years while I was a student at ANU and she was brilliant. Great work diagnosing unusual conditions and very proactive researching and providing referrals. She also has a great bedside manner and is very kind and genuine.

Today was my first time seeing Dr. Melissa Bessel. The experience was so pleasant even though I had a Pap test. She is such a lovely person and seeing her is a highlight of my day. I was so lucky to get assigned to see her today, and after this visit, I hope that I would have her as my GP for the rest of my life. Thank you so much, Dr. Bessel.
