Dr Felix Leung may have the knowledge to help you, but his delivery is very poor. He has a few preconceived notions about the conditions that he treats, and he becomes a human record player. I have seen him about 10 times, and every single time he repeats word for word basic information about my condition, drug options, etc. I have begun to finish his sentences for him, and he has zero recollection of already saying the exact same thing every single visit. He may be used to dealing with older patients that are themselves repetitive or hoping for solutions he doesn't. However, I am a younger person and there is a lot of newer studies and alternative treatments for my condition.
I have taken a second opinion from another Rheumatologist, and that experience was what I was expecting. That doctor had read similar studies (and more) that I have, and spoke to me without being condescending. He knew that I had done research and my research method was sound (I am a professional that does research analysis as my career). He also had many fresh options and listened to my case history closely to determine if a new strategy would be more effective.
For all the years I've seen Dr. Leung, he just tells me to do the same thing, live with what I have and see you in 6-8 months.

He doesn't understand what is pain to the patient. He just wants to inject people with cortisone. He doesn't listen patient problem about pain. Today I went to his office and after I cryed and refused the injection he showed me a exit door. No emotion towards patients. No help at all. I will not recommend him he is the worst doctor. Rate 0

This is one of the worst doctors I've ever been to, and considering how many doctors I've been to in Ontario, that's saying a lot. I received a referral to him to have a rhuematoid disease diagnosed. This disease cannot be diagnosed by looking at the patient, it can only be diagnosed after testing and exposure of skin to cold temperature. After less than a minute exposure to cold temperature, it is apparent to people without even a medical training that I have this disease. During my appointment with this doctor in a warm temperature month in a room temperature office, he looked at my hands for three seconds and said I did not have this disease. I am not exaggerating about this, it was actually three seconds. He did not ask me any questions, do an exam, look at my nails, or look anywhere else. I knew right then that I had wasted my time and bus fare and that it was no use continuing with this doctor and try to explain his own speciality of medicine to him and how this disease is supposed to be diagnosed. I promptly got a referral to another rheumatologist, who was able to diagnose the disease I knew I had with the proper testing. It disgusts me that this doctor did not do his job, did not even do the minimum, and in fact, gave a wrong diagnosis and still got paid by OHIP. It's a good thing I have some medical knowledge and know how to advocate for myself or I would have accepted this misdiagnosis and continued to get worse, even with possible tissue death. This is the problem today with Ontario health care system. The doctors on the whole are uninterested, incompetent, and get paid regardless of how bad they mess up and don't do their job. There is no incentive to be competent and actually do their job. There is no incentive to do better because the very rare good doctors get paid the same as the majority incompetent ones like this doctor.
