The #1Pain Doctor In New York.
On my very first visit three years ago: Dr. Gupta was the consummate professional, very personable with a great bedside manner, empathetic, and very attentive to the needs of his patients. Everything went better than I could have expected. I have never seen Dr. Gupta without a smile on his face. The key word here is passion in everything he does. He will be my physiatrist for the rest of my life. As a surgeon he is an artist. I would very highly recommend Dr Nickhil Gupta!

I seriously wish I researched this person more before trusting him to treat my pain. Like the person in the review before me, I was led to believe he was a pain doctor. I saw the surgeon in this practice who said he wanted me to see pain management before considering me for surgery. My friend sees a pain doc in the city which she loves so I was going to see that one, instead the surgeon told me I "had" to see their in house pain doc in the surgeon's practice because "he was the absolute best in the city" and based on that endorsement I agreed. My lord what a mistake. He did an epidural on me and I can't imagine it going any worse. He stuck the needle right into nerve and got a shooting pain down my leg, not once, not twice but THREE TIMES!!! I thought my leg was on fire. I kept telling him to stop but he had me strapped in. I almost had a panic attack. I come to find out that the needle was inside my nerve root and he injected into the nerve root causing more pain that I would wish on my worst enemy. Fortunately he move the needles in the other 2 spots and instead shot steroid directly into a blood vessel that caused me to start my period 2 weeks early and has lasted for 3 weeks and going. Thinking that maybe this was just my body and maybe I had a poor reaction to the treatment, I wanted to make sure it was me and not this doctor. I asked the staff when I checked out where he did his training in pain. The girl looked at someone else when I asked and then they start whispering to each other before answering me stating that he did his training at "NYU." Based on the way I got that answer I felt like something was off. I came home, looked him up on google, found this website and the review from 12/27/2020 - he's not trained in pain at all. I called their office as soon as I read this because I figured it had to be a lie, but sure enough he really isn't trained or boarded in pain, but believe me it was like pulling teeth to get them to admit it and asking the question like 4 different ways. This all makes perfect sense now. I blame myself for not doing my own research but shame on them for being so deceptive. If you are reading this please go someplace else and spare yourself what I went through.

Not board certified in Pain. Believe it or not I found out he took a bunch of weekend courses back in 2012 and now he calls himself a pain doctor. When I called to schedule my appointment their front desk said he was a “pain doctor” and “one of the best in the city.” During the telemedicine visit he kept contradicting himself and what he said made no sense whatsoever. I’ve been a practicing RN for 15 years, I’m nit a doctor but I know basic anatomy and the basics of medications. So I let him keep talking and while he was blabbing I started to google him and found his page on their website. No information about any fellowship training in Pain or when he became board certified in it. I asked him point blank if he was a boarded pain doctor and right to my face he lie and said of course he was board certified. I attempted to clarify by asking what he was boarded in and he wouldn’t answer me once he realized what I was getting at. I went to another doctor a few weeks later and she told me she went to residency with him a few years after him and he never trained in pain. This practice is immoral for lying to patients like me so I reported them to the medical board. I can promise that this review will be removed

I have actually been seen by all the doctors here, for various reasons, or when there was a backup. The fact that they all communicate made it feel like I was seeing only one doctor, and it helped my recovery a lot. Also, now that COVID is a thing, these video chats are a great thing!

The office seemed a little bit backed up when I went to see Dr. gupta a couple of weeks ago, but that's easily dealt with when the level of care was so good. He really showed interest in me and my back disc issue. I would definitely recommend Dr. Gupta to anyone.
