She was, hands down, the worst doctor I have ever encountered. She likes using humiliation, yelling, no eye contact. She was hideously rude to my roommate. I have since been to therapy that was compassionate, helpful. I deserve to be treated with unconditional positive regard, dignity, and respect. This doctor does not know the meaning of the words. AVOID at absolutely all costs.

Dr. Sheinbaum was excellent with my son. I finally received insight into my 17 year old son's behaviour: narcissism! So many things make sense now. She was a great balance of empathetic and straight talking to him which he needed. She was not manipulated but was able to cut through his verbiage to get to the main point. She adjusted his medication and he is doing so much better. I highly recommend her!

As with too many other desperate and vulnerable psychiatric emergency patients described in these ratings, Dr. Sheinbaum blocked access to the ward for our suicidal daughter on several occasions, the first time turning her out onto the street. Without the care she desperately needed, her condition worsened and she took her life. She was afraid of Dr. Sheinbaum, who mocked her, saying "You again?!" when she presented in Emergency. By all means, contact the hospital to file a complaint, but THE PATH TO CHANGE is to file a COMPLAINT with the BC College of Physicians and Surgeons at https://www.cpsbc.ca/for-public/file-complaint. It is not a big process and you do not need a lawyer, just write a letter. The kind staff will assist. To everyone who has been maltreated by this callous and contemptuous doctor, PLEASE TAKE THAT STEP, someone's life could be saved! The more complaints, the better. And let Island Health know you have filed that complaint, so they have no excuses.

A fairly evil human being. Will look for every reason to get rid of someone, and every reason not to provide them with actual help.

Loud, rude, controlling, intimidating, and abusive. The psychiatric emergency at Jubilee has long been a place with a great poverty of resources, and one of the major deficits is in psychiatrists who know how to treat people in distress. Sheinbaum is obviously beyond sick of dealing with patients, and reflexively pushes for discharge, berating and belittling patients in the process. Her knowledge regarding medications is good in my experience, hence the second star, but her behaviour towards patients cultivates further distress. I've seen her about half a dozen times and it's always the same attitude of "why are you here?" "don't waste my time!" I've seen her tackle a patient in front of several others and shoot her up with an antipsychotic against her will. She has yelled with a piercingly loud voice at patients in the common area of the psychiatric emergency as well. Apparently she discharged someone in distress who ended up killing themself. Scary woman. I hope she retires before more damage is done.

A better dr might have saved my friends life. Had she not discharged her clearly distressed with a crisis line phone number, some pills and no where to go. Instead my friend suicided.

Poor skill set for working with people. Horrible, unethical, maladjusted person working with vulnerable patients. Simply wrong.

Dr. Sheinbaum was by far the worst Doctor I have ever seen. I saw her twice and both times she was incredibly rude, judgmental, condescending and unprofessional. Just an ugly person inside and out. The first time I saw her, I told her I was seeing "evil" in people, and I definitely saw it in her!!! She also accused me of taking "street drugs" because I smoke a little bit of pot. A truly horrendous person who should NOT be working with people's mental health.

This is the Doctor who compulsively discharges patients from PES long before it is appropriate.

Anyone with simultaneously is a self-harm risk AND has a substance use issue is in dire trouble if in Dr. Steinbaum's care. She has most certainly killed people through negligence.

I am not sure how she sleeps at night.

This doctor discharged my suicidal son after 12 hours in hospital. Most of which he was recovering from an overdose. Given no psychiatrist to follow up with and gave one week of meds despite not having a family doctor to see. Wonder if she was one when the poor 24 year old was sent home from hospital this past week and then walked onto the highway . Psychiatric care in this city is disgraceful. Is there another medical specialty where doctors can fire patients or refuse care to those that are desperate and sick.
