I would not change him for another; Dr Ben is the image of a good family doctor:
1- Friendly, courteous, compassionate and patient; a good listener
2- knowledgeable and up-to-date. He spends time reading to keep up with new advances that he uses well.
He is successfully treating my diabetes despite all my sugar sins.

I find it difficult to read some patients' negative comments; perhaps, as another reviewer has written, the fault lies with them, not with Dr Ben

Thank you Dr Ben; I appreciate you.

One star rating was generous enough. After reading more reviews on ratemds - it validated my experience (July 17, 2023) and thought I was the only one.

He is not attentive, doesn’t listen and instead of appropriately educating you on medical plans or actions he responds with passive aggression. Unwarranted. The objective of every patient’s visit is to seek help but instead I felt like I was inconveniencing him. I made a request and his response was “You’re not the one who has to fill out the form and do the paperwork. I do.” Okay but I’m trying to stay on top of my health so how is it an issue for him to do his job? I highly suggest that if he refuses to honour your request or deny you of something, rude to you in any way to ask to document it in writing during your appointment. If your doctor can’t advocate for you, you’ll have to advocate for yourself.

I am satisfied with Dr. Pangilinan. He is very personable and professional. His staff, on the other hand, is another story. She lacks empathy and can be condescending. She acts like she knows how to screen patient but likely does not have the appropriate training or degree to do the triaging work. Poor communication skills. Will look for another MD.

Ben has been my family MD for almost 20 years. He has been great but lately he's been terrible to deal with and with his sister as his primary secretary/admin, it's one of the worse experience. She's awful to deal with and she screens you even before you can make an appointment. If I could find a new MD, I would.

Dr Ben has been kind, accommodating and very helpful in taking care of my dad for the past years. He takes his time in answering his questions . His medical knowledge is great. Despite the pandemic and the enormous stress it has brought to our medical frontliners, Dr Ben is a shining light in our lives. Thank you for the work and dedication .

I don’t understand those other people saying negative things about Dr. Ben. He’s the kindest, gentlest, and the most empathetic doctor I’ve ever had. It’s probably those patients that are the problem.

Rude and unprofessional. He does not care for his patients. I will not recommend him to anyone - even to my worst enemy. Would happily give 0 star review if possible.

1) I was in a phone consultation with him today and I'd say it was the worst experience ever! Before the call, I already explained to their office the purpose of my call (to ask for a referral for an allergy test and annual bloodworks)- he is our family doctor and allergy meds he gave me was not working plus we do not know the cause of my allergies. So during the call I informed him of my requests, but then all of a sudden he got annoyed and said "YOU DO NOT HAVE A MEDICAL DEGREE TO TELL ME WHAT TO DO. I AM NOT YOUR SERVANT." I was perplexed by his tone despite the fact that I was being polite and was just explaining why I need those referrals.

The call ended with him refusing to provide an allergy test referral and annual bloodworks. He was adamant for me to try more nasal and allergy medications despite the fact of not knowing enough information (what causes the allergy, or is it actually an allergy or a sinus infection?). As for the latter, he said that he will not give a referral for bloodworks for a 29year old because I am still young - is this even allowed?

2) My mom came to him regarding the tremor/ shaking of her hands which were getting worst and affects her daily life as well as her confidence. Dr. Pangilinan's advise? "Dont worry about it. Just hide your hands in your pocket" - comical right? Is this even legal and ethical?

We are now in our twilight years, with aches and pains that were non-existent’s few years ago. Dr. Ben is kind, polite, patient and knowledgeable. Very caring professional. He once called me at home. While waiting for a flight to start a well-earned vacation. He visited my sister in law st home during his afternoon break
He is never rushed and never dominates the conversation, but rather listens intently and then offers his medical advice/cure If it were not for Dr Ben our lives would be a bare existence. Our quality of life is much better given the assurance that Dr.Ben is always there for us .. Not to forget his staff- Katherina and KC . These ladies ( the doctor’s gatekeepers) always make us feel special during our visits. Dr Ben and staff are our guardian angels
