Having recently moved from Sudbury to Thunder Bay 2 years ago, I now am stuck with this specialist and is by far the rudest person, let alone doctor, I have EVER met. Do not recommend moving to Thunder Bay if you need to be seen by any endo here. He has no people skills, talks over you, makes you feel like you don't know what's going on with your own disease, absolutely incredibly rude, does not include you in decision making about your own health, is very old-school, doesn't listen and also doesn't look into your health history, and not only that, does not even send you for bloodwork for what an endocrinologist should. I have been independent since my diagnosis at 9 years old, and now being 27, I can say that I mastered it a long time ago. I manage my diabetes well on my own, if I didn't need to see an endocrinologist for my ADP (pump funding), I wouldn't even bother. This man should have never become a specialist.

Good "OLD" Bakar. He's a real old school doctor. Treats women like they should be seen but not heard . Real old school. Retirement is also a real thing. If I could give him zero stars I would. Rude and dismissive seem to be his MO. I fired him due to dereliction of duty.

Hard to believe this doctor has a license. A terrible man. Go somewhere else for treatment.

I would not recommend this doctor if you have a parathyroid problem. He was arrogant, and would not listen to what you had to say. Luckily I am leaving Thunder Bay. If you have medical issues, think twice before coming this way.

I found Dr. Abu- Bakari full of knowledge, professional and helpful in my case. I have seen other Specialist really arrogant and zero bedside manners.

Dr.Abu-Bakare is probably THE WORST DOCTOR I've ever seen in my life. He told me that because I don't meet HIS criteria for insulin pump therapy that he would not be submitting my application to the government for funding. It's not like I am way out of wack but I have a hard time keeping my sugars under control which is why I need/use a pump, but without government funding, it is very very expensive and hard to afford by myself. That being said, I 100% meet the criteria for government funding that the Canadian government sets out, it is just the so-called "Doctor" that says I don't and he is now playing with MY health because he has some personal issue with me apparently.

THIS IS DISGUSTING and he shouldn't legally be able to practice medicine ANYWHERE on earth, nevermind Canada. I would highly recommend you go elsewhere or if you are in Thunder Bay, try to get into the Centre for Complex Diabetes Care that is run by Dr.Malik, he is a great man and after my first appointment I was blown away that there is actually someone how wants to help people and let them get back to living their life.

I do not know if he is as dismissive with men as he is with women, but I saw him after having tests and receiving a diagnosis in Winnipeg and he flat out said that he did not believe the results! It is a fact that I have a life long, life threatening illness, but he told other doctors that I did not. Besides a lack of knowledge, he has absolutely no bedside manner. It is a very sad situation when he is the only endocrinologist in the city!

Arrogant, dismissive. Had a adenoma on parathyroid as indicated by Radiologist in his report, this guy dismissed it causing me to get sicker and sicker to the point I was forced to go to U.S. to have the tumour removed. Turned out there were two of them and they were pumping out way too much parathyroid hormone causing all of my symptoms including a stroke. His response to the Radiologist's report "there is nothing wrong with your parathyroid, we will take another look in a year". Save your time and ask your family doctor to be referred to someone in Toronto. Sad state of affairs that this guy is the only guy up here.

This guy was RUDE the minute I saw him and was rude to my family doc. There was clearly a endocrine problem and he ignored repeated attempts from my family doctor to contact him for clarification. UNPROFESSIONAL RUDE UNRELIABLE what a great doctor. This makes me sick I have to take time off work to goto Toronto for health care becuse this guy won't acknowledge my family doctor who was visibly upset and felt bad that I wasn't getting the health care I need. Avoid this man at all costs - fore-warned.
