Amazing Doctor, very knowledgable, straight to the point. However she answered all the question and concerns I had. she was my Doctor in the ER and later performed surgery on me. I will forever be grateful to her, for her fast thinking and excellent job.

I've had many visits with Dr. Defreitas over the past year and a half. Her expertise and professionalism were very instrumental in easing any stress or anxiety I was feeling. She runs a tight ship in her clinics but will still stop and explain things if you ask. Otherwise she may seem in a rush but that's because she sees a lot of patients and wants to be as punctual as possible. I enjoyed her rare moments of candor and I will miss her now that she is retiring.

Embarrassing to say the least, if you ever need a urologist don’t go to her. Never got an explanation of my conditions and she only uses words that can’t be taken to court (I must say… for a reason, given her ineptitude). I still have problems to this day and I never got a follow up appointment after my surgery.

I concur with the previous review — Dr. Defreitas appears slightly disinterested, and at best indifferent to your medical concerns. Unless you’re on the brink of death, her care or insights don’t entail anything substantive. It’s entirely possible that her level of concern varies based on each patient and whether or not she likes you; possibly even a racial component at work — which isn’t an entirely unheard of experience for me with medical professionals, but I digress. Moreover, she is very much a “rusher,” so to speak. This may or may not be exclusive to her; most practitioners in the Canadian healthcare system express very little concern over your wellbeing. Again, you have to be on the literal brink of death to receive anything substantial: anything less is not worth their time. So, do I recommend Dr. Defreitas? Well, I can’t say for certain as I have no point of reference to compare her. However, I will say her punctuality is fairly good, her receptionists are thorough, and her level of knowledge is apt, relatively speaking. If your ailment is anything less than life-threatening, it may be more conducive to seek another urologist. And lastly, take my, and the other negative reviewers with a grain of salt. It’s far more likely for us dissatisfied individuals to express our anger in an online review than it is for satisfied patients to express their content.

Left an impression that she does not care and and is rushed to move onto next patient. Did not take a moment to explain complex medical terms to me. I felt like I was just a number and left feeling like I really don't know what options I should be pursuing to help alleviate my condition. This is a common theme with Gina and I will be pursuing a 2nd opinion. I wish I had listened to family members earlier who had accompanied me in the past and noticed her behaviour to be rude for a doctor. I wish I could give her bedside manners a score of zero

Dr. Defreitas is a polite and nice lady, always smiling. She clearly explains the pros and cons of your treatment but where she really fails her patients is on giving her opinion. She never tells you what she thinks your best treatment option is, this is very frustrating. Why go to a specialist if you don't hear their opinion. She also ignores if you have pain. She is always on time and her receptionist responds to calls quickly. Office hours kind of suck Mon-thur and closed for lunch, can't leave a voicemail when on holiday.

Dr. DeFreitas is a very knowledgable Dr. And very polite, however her receptionist is very rude. I showed up for my appointment, while the receptionist was speaking to another elderly woman about cats and dogs, and their personal life, while I had been waiting to be signed in.

Two people came in after me, the receptionist only then discontinued her personal conversation. Receptionist disregarded me, even though I was right in front of her, did not ask my name, what I was there for or anything, and began to speak to the people behind me.

I let the reception know I feel that what she was doing was ver impolite and unprofessional, as she is acting as if she is not seeing me. She began to rant and say the female and male behind me was there already, and that they had X-rays to do, telling me another patients private health issue is also not professional.

I explained it would had been ok, if she spoke to them before me, as long as she had acknowledge that I was there.

I am very in pleased, and feel that I was treated as such, based on my age and my diversity.

It's a shame I go through this on a daily basis else where, but I did not expect this at a place where I come to seek help at a Doctor/Specialty place of medicine.

I hope Dr. Defreitas can address this issue, because she really is a great Doctor!
