The man has no bed side manner. He proceeded to go on a five minute tirade about how he was not satisfied with the company I work for and their quality of images and how he was unhappy they took over another imaging facility. Told me to get imaging elsewhere. He accused me of looking or wanting a serious disease or diagnoses. When telling him my symptoms and pain have greatly increased over the last 5-6 yrs he said well your not dead right? Means it's nothing bad. Also, that he himself doesn't feel the same he did 6 years ago due to age. This is why women are misdiagnosed @ higher rate than men. He at one point said I offended him for saying that I feel like drs aren't listening to me and dismissing my issues and that they just want to mask them with pain management. I do not want to take random medicines, i want to find the cause of the problems and symptoms I am experiencing not mask them. He also alluded to my weight, not even knowing I lost 30lbs and still worsening symptoms

STAY AWAY PLEASE.PATIENT WENT TO SEE HIM FOR THE 1ST TIME.
HE WAS VERY RUDE TO HER.
INSTEAD OF ADDRESSING WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS,THE REASON FOR HER VISIT,HE IMMEDIATELY AND WITH OUT CAUSE,STARTED TO RIDICULE HER ABOUT THINGS THAT HAVE NO BARING ON WHAT SHE WAS THERE FOR.
THE PATIENT IMMEDIATELY STARTED CRYING BUT THIS DIDN'T SEEM TO BOTHER HIM.
HE CONTINUED SAYING MORE THINGS THAT LEFT THE PATIENT NO OPTION BUT TO RUN OUT OF HIS OFFICE.
SHE TOLD THE.NURSE AND THE NURSE WAS IN SHOCK.STAY AWAY

Waited over an hour. Took care of my problem, nothing serious...then he felt compelled to talk about my weight, why? NOT HIS FIELD. He didn't know my health history and the fact I already lost 25 lbs. Out of respect for the profession, I did not interrupt his 10 min. lecture on weight loss. His specialty is above the neck not below it. Found it very unprofessional and just wrong for an ENT to be discussing my weight...NOT HIS CONCERN. Needless to say, I will NOT be going back to him.

Biography

Edward Gabalski, MD, is chief of otolaryngology/head neck surgery at Glen Cove Hospital and chief of otolaryngology at South Shore University Hospital. He sees patients with all types of head and neck tumors, including cancers of the mouth, throat, nose, sinuses, thyroid, parathyroid and salivary glands. He specializes in minimally invasive thyroid and parathyroid surgery to remove tumors, which requires making a single small incision in the neck. He also performs endoscopic surgery for the removal of sinus tumors, which involves placing a thin lighted tube with a tiny camera on the tip and small surgical tools through the nose to remove tissue. Other conditions he treats include chronic sinusitis, nasal polyps and obstructive sleep apnea. Dr. Gabalski earned his medical degree at SUNY Upstate Medical University College of Medicine. “The first class I took there was anatomy lab, and I knew right away that I wanted a career in surgery,” he says. He then completed an otolaryngology/head and neck surgery residency through SUNY Buffalo and a head and neck surgical oncology fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center. A team-based approach to care is central to his job at Northwell Health. “Our surgeons work together to cover patients and help each other during procedures,” he says. Because the system does a high volume of surgeries, complication rates are low. Along with the surgical team, Dr. Gabalski also collaborates with pathologists, radiologists, medical oncologists, and radiation oncologists to create personalized, comprehensive care plans for his patients. In addition to providing patients with outstanding clinical care, Dr. Gabalski and his colleagues are studying the role of human papillomavirus (HPV) in head and neck cancers. He also has a research interest in preventing hearing loss associated with preoperative chemotherapy in the patients he sees. He is a member of the American Head and Neck Society, the American Board of Otolaryngology, the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, and the Long Island Society of Otolaryngology. For Dr. Gabalski, the most gratifying part of this work is supporting patients throughout the treatment process. “I’m privileged to help people during what can be the most difficult time of their lives,” he says. “Seeing them on the other side of their treatment is just so rewarding.”
