I’m not looking for a doctor to “hold my hand” as a previous review stated as a reason for the poor reviews. Nope - this man is the rudest and has the most vile demeanour of any doctor I’ve ever met. I have chronic health issues and interact with many doctors - I’ve never encountered such a vile man in a white coat. Dismissive and I’d say pathologically arrogant. I think of you have an obvious ENT problem he’s medically astute and can follow treatment plans, but if he doesn’t see something per se - he basically tells you that you are a hypochondriac. Leaves his office door open during the appointment and speaks incredibly loud; the entire waiting room hears all your personal health information. My son was in the waiting room and was appalled to hear how I was spoken to and to witness the obvious discomfort of everyone in the waiting room hearing my most personal business.
Avoid this doctor like the plague, even if you must travel far to see a different ENT doctor.

Dr. Achtem is professional and to-the-point. I did not find him to be rude or dismissive or arrogant. If you’re looking for a doctor to hold your hand and comfort you, he’s not the one to see. If you want a doctor that is concise, professional, knowledgeable and respectful, go see him. You will not be disappointed.

Don't understand the negative reviews. In treating me for infected and plugged sinuses, Dr Achtem was professional in the process but engaged in conversation about common interests and other associated topics. I was very happy to have him look after me. Thank you Dr Achtem.

Dr. Achtem was dismissive, arrogant, unkind and downright rude. The entire experience from start to finish was uncomfortable and borderline confrontational.

I certainly would not recommend him to any of my friends or family.

Excellent experience seeing Dr Achtem! He treated my elderly mother. He was very kind to her. He did a procedure for her and the follow up was more than I would have expected!
His office had me send pictures of the operative site and he made a follow up phone call. He was not in a hurry with the procedure or the follow up. Excellent physician, I would highly recommend him. Thank you!

I came to Dr. Achtem on an emergency admission after seeing a resident first, who made an accurate diagnosis at the emergency department. Dr. Achem saw me a couple of days later in the hospital ENT department, treated me. as a competent adult and explained everything that he was doing. He conducted the procedure quickly and professionally. I did not look for empathy or bedside manners like some people commented negatively here. I prefer accurate and factual information, and feeling like an equal, not a dependent patient. Dr. Achem completely met that goal.

Rudeness at its best. No empathy at all. Should be castigated by fellow practitioners as he gives all a bad name. Should be reported to the college of physicians..not a nice person..
