She was so down to earth and thoughtful when delivering my baby. We had complications and she supported us the whole way through and after as well! Would use her again for a second.

When I decided to switch from a hospital to a homebirth at 23 weeks, I felt late changing providers and birth settings. Feeling called to homebirth, but learning about it for the first time, I was a ball of anxiety and nerves. When interviewing midwives, I was eager to find one who was experienced with both hospital and home birth training and would support me given my being an otherwise healthy first time pregnant 40 year old with rheumatoid arthritis, the latter of which "marked" me by traditional OB practices "high risk." I met Andrea through a recommendation from my doula, and I was immediately impressed by her confidence and knowledge answering questions we had about the process and potential complications. My partner, who is a physician, was at first apprehensive about my wish to birth at home, but was reassured after meeting and speaking with Andrea who was able to allay his concerns. He was particularly impressed by her years and years of experience, calm and confident demeanor, and the sense of trust she engendered in being willing to talk through various scenarios and how we would manage them collaboratively with the shared goal of a safe, healthy delivery for mom and baby. During our consultation, she even told us the probiotic strains I should be taking to avoid GBS, which I thought was very generous.

Moving forward, I looked forward to all of my appointments with Andrea and felt informed and empowered the entire time. All birthing people should feel this way, and I feel incredibly lucky and grateful for my experience. Andrea was always incredibly professional, organized, and responsive, while going out of her way to put me at ease throughout the entire process.

I was worried I would go past my due date and/or have to be transferred to the hospital, but I ended up delivering 8 days early at home after 15 hours of active labor. I will never know if Andrea's suggested herbs and/or prescribed exercises made my baby come early and turn (we thought I might have been in back labor early on), but I am eternally grateful Andrea helped make my vision of safely birthing at home come to fruition.

I can't possibly say enough good about Andrea. For the birth of my first child, she worked as hard to ensure that I was physically taken care, as I was mentally. For the duration of my care with her, both my birth partner and I felt so empowered. She was the first (and last) midwife with whom we met; we knew right away that she was going to be our person. There were so many things we loved about Andrea during that first meeting, but the thing that stuck out most to us was that she let us know that she was going to do what was best for me and my baby, even if that meant a transfer to a local hospital. It made us feel like her mission was not to prove anything about home birth, but rather to make sure everyone was safe and sound. That being said, we had a successful home birth and loved our experience with Andrea so much we decided to have another baby and do it again! Andrea is a part of our family now. All these years later we remain grateful to her and her team every, single day.

I feel so lucky to have found Andrea when I did - in February of 2020, 20 weeks into my pregnancy, I decided to switch my birth plan to a home birth. After interviewing a few other practices, my husband and I had a video call with Andrea and instantly it just felt right. She's not only kind and reassuring, but incredibly experienced and knowledgable. She made us feel at ease right away. By mid-March of 2020, as COVID started to spread through the city and so many things were up in the air and impossible to anticipate, her care remained a constant. It was such a comfort during such a tumultuous time. I always felt well informed and well taken care of by her, even when we were meeting virtually. She helped me feel empowered to be in tune with my pregnancy in a way I really don't think many birthing people are fortunate enough to be encouraged to do. Beyond that, her billings team was incredibly helpful in sorting out insurance coverage. From insurance logistics to emotional support to checking in with my partner at each appointment, it was a wonderful experience. My pregnancy went a bit long (just about 42 weeks), and Andrea helped us navigate all of the natural induction methods that were available to us, coming to our home multiple days in a row during that last week to work on getting baby earth side. We were in constant contact once labor kicked in, but she also gave us plenty of space to be in the experience on our own, again I felt so empowered and autonomous in that way. My labor went from very slow and dragging to hot and fast very quickly, but Andrea made it just in time to catch our sweet baby and make sure we were both safe and sound. Her birthing assistant was also a lovely person, and the two of them worked wonderfully with my doula to support my husband, baby and I through those first hours of being a new family. The follow up appointments after birth were equally warm, informative and comforting. I'm glad to stay in touch with her on occasion and wouldn't hesitate to hire her again if I were birthing in New York City in the future.

My beautiful daughter was born at the end of May 2021 and I delivered her in the comfort of my home while my other children slept soundly in their upstairs bedrooms. It was calm, it was peaceful, and it was civilized in a way that I did not think a birth could be.
Andrea made that happen for our family.
From the very first time I reached out to her, she was friendly, yet extremely professional. She is highly educated in her field and passionate about what she does. My husband was on the fence about a home birth but most of his fears were put to rest after speaking with her just once. She has a strong air of competency and I found myself referring to her as "my doctor" to which she laughingly responded, "If I wanted to be a doctor I would have become a doctor".
She would have been an amazing doctor because she is an amazing midwife.
I love that she recommends and is open to natural methods that really work but she is firmly rooted in medicine and science and those two put together make for the best care possible in my opinion. There was never a time that I did not have total confidence in Andrea's ability to care for me. She was always completely honest about everything, she kept me informed, and allowed me to make my own choices based on facts. During our visits she was always patient and answered all my questions, I never felt rushed.
I was concerned about certain aspects of my care and was honestly amazed at what she was capable of doing for me in my home: She was able to administer the Vitamin K shot to my baby, she was able to give me local anesthesia and stitch me when I tore (no pain at all! Unlike the OB at the last hospital birth I had) and she gave Pitocin after the birth, at my request, to control bleeding. She is also able to administer medications and the list goes on!
After I gave birth, we waited to cut the umbilical cord at her recommendation, so all the blood and oxygen could get to the baby. We talked while her assistant took my vitals and she explained to my husband and me about the placenta and showed us where the baby lived for 9 months and how it depicts the Tree of Life, which I never knew!
It was just so intimate and magical and sweet, it made me wish I had my other children at home.
She stayed with me until she was sure I was safe and settled and gave me detailed instructions on how to care for myself and what things to look out for before she left. This woman is absolutely meticulous in everything she does. This was my fourth child and I can honestly say that I have never felt more rested after childbirth nor have I ever recovered so quickly!
My baby is so healthy too! She never lost any weight after birth and she nurses beautifully. She is alert and happy and I could not be more pleased.
I also want to mention that the woman in her billing department were amazing as well! They went above and beyond for me to get my home birth covered by my insurance and I am so grateful. I had spoken to another midwife before Andrea and their billing department did not even try to speak to my insurance, nor did they work with me at all on possible billing options. I was very put off by this... I personally feel that who you have working for you is a big reflection on you as a professional, and I was impressed at the difference in how her billing department handled my concerns in comparison to the first midwife I spoke to. Even if they couldn't get my birth covered I would have appreciated and recognized their effort and it reflects well on Andrea.
I want to mention here that there will be some out-of-pocket expenses even if insurance does pay, and she will tell you that. I really feel that what I paid out of pocket was nothing compared to the experience I had and the sheer convenience of it all. Plus it was not much more than I would have paid to get a private room at the hospital, which I would have, especially in the pandemic right now.
Overall it was wonderful. We had our last visit yesterday at my home, she gave me a thorough examination and observed my baby nursing, and gave some suggestions. She asked how I was doing and feeling and it was like having a friend over. I will really miss her, and if I ever get pregnant again I will not hesitate to work with her again.
If you are looking for a midwife and have found Andrea Diamond, stop looking, and pray that she has availability for your birth.

Andrea cared for me for my second pregnancy and home birth. As a doula myself, I have worked with many midwives and doctors. I was confident that, in choosing Andrea, we would have meticulous, evidence-based care. I also knew that, as long as my pregnancy and birth progressed normally and naturally, Andrea would be as respectful and hands-off as I wanted her to be. For me, Andrea is the right balance of trust (that birth is normal and usually safe) and caution (vigilance to make sure everything is still within the range of normal and a game plan of what to do if things don't continue as expected). She put my husband and 6-year old daughter (who says she's "nice and fun") at ease and everyone was very excited about the birth. Andrea went out of her way to be available for my birth, which I will be forever grateful for.
When I went into labor, Andrea was careful to come with plenty of time to spare, even though we were all expecting a fast birth. When labor became active, Andrea, her assistant, Maggie, my doula, Shalawn, and my husband provided amazing support to help me cope and get me through a very fast, intense labor and water birth. When my bleeding after birth was a bit more than expected, Andrea was on the ball right away, talking my husband and me through what she was doing and why. She had the situation and my bleeding under control right away and carefully watched me to ensure all was safe throughout the rest of the time they were at my home after the birth. I knew that the baby and I were in skilled, confident hands the entire time. The picture we have of my older daughter holding my newborn son's hand while Andrea listened to his heartbeat is a cherished memory.
While my first home birth was also a wonderful experience, my husband and I commented that with the birth of our son everything went exactly as we hoped and there was actually nothing we would change. Andrea's support and care helped me to have an optimal pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience. I strongly recommend her services and can't speak about being under her care highly enough!

Andrea was our midwife in the birth of our son Hillel. From the beginning pregnancy and until the 6 week visit after the birth, she accompanied us and Surrounded us with love and care. The birth itself was an amazing
experience, and we could not ask for a better midwife. Andrea was attentive and sensitive, and gave us the space we needed and at the same time, the support and sense of security we wished for. Thank you Andrea!!

My husband and I had an amazing experience with Andrea. I loved the warmth and caring, along with her extensive knowledge and confidence in the birth process. We also felt secure that we could trust Andrea with the safety of our birth with the proper planning, proactiveness and experience.
Andrea was available to us whenever we needed her. Coming to my home after 36 weeks was so so so helpful for me.

Andrea Diamond was the midwife I was looking for. In the past I had a bad experience with a midwife, something happened during my pregnancy and couldn't get in touch with her so I ended up in the emergency room. The fist thing I was looking for this time was to find someone reliable and trustworthy.
Andrea was definitely the right person. She is very professional, always on time and extremely reliable. When I had ant questions big or small, she would get back to me right away.
In the middle of my pregnancy, my insurance decided to drop me and beside that stressful situation Andrea stayed professional and supportive.

I highly recommend Andrea to any couple considering home birth. She is extremely reliable and comforting.

When we got pregnant, my husband and I knew we wanted to have a homebirth. We wanted no interventions or medications, and we wanted our daughter to be in our home from moment one.

We are so grateful to have found Andrea. She is an incredibly calming and assuring presence. We felt so suppported and well cared for every step of the pregnancy. Andrea really worked WITH us to make sure we could have a healthy hypnobirthing experience at home, and helped us attend to any potential obstacles throughout without any sort of alarm or unnecessary stress. She really encouraged us to take initiative to have the healthiest pregnancy and birthing experience possible and because of that, and our hypnobirthing practice, we felt so prepared and confident going into our baby's birthing day.

The birth itself (on 12/17/16) was an incredible experience. Andrea was so positive and assuring, which kept my husband and me calm and able to focus on bringing our daughter into the wold. One of the most amazing parts of the whole day was the way in which she guided me through active labor, with simple directions and reminders ("relax your face," "unclench your fist" etc), while being totally hands off and patient. As soon as my daughter was born Andrea placed her on my belly for skin-to-skin. Even when I had a postpartum hemorrhage and eventually transferred to the hospital, I knew I was in good hands and was so impressed with Andrea and Shalawn. The hospital staff also went out of their way to express how impressed they were with her treatment.

Even with the unexpected trip to the hospital, the birth was everything I wanted, and my daughter was born healthy, strong, unmedicated and happily at home. I would absolutely recommend Andrea to anyone looking to have a gentle, natural birth and the best prenatal care possible.
