My 5 children and I have been patients of Dr Houbi for over a decade. I must say that he is a great doctor who cares deeply for his patients. He always greets us with a “hello my friend”, always friendly and cheerful. I always have felt heard by Dr Houbi, especially recently when I was going through a depression. Everyone, my husband and even my psychologist of 4 years included, fell to understand what I was going through and to help me at a time where I so needed. But not Dr Houbi, desperate, I walked into his office and said “Dr Houbi I am dying…” . He took the time to listen to me, asking me questions to get to the bottom of things until he determined that I was suffering from a bad depression. He listened to me and for the first time- in a very long time - I felt he was the only person who cared and wanted to help get better. I can say that this man saved my life, I am grateful that he is our family doctor.

I was recommended to Dr Houbi. Reading the positive comments here, I can only conclude he has been a great doctor for some, not all. I'm in the latter group.

Punctuality: It has been a consistent 30-40mins past my appointment time each visit. I understand the reasons posted in the clinic on why doctors run late, but I find it hard to accept this is 100% of my visits.

Knowledge: Almost everything seems to be "take tylenol". I understand pain management and he's probably not wrong, but a consultation on "why" and the possible root causes prior to "go take some tylenol" would be more valuable. From my experience and looking at the other positive reviews, I would not count on him diagnosing serious illnesses as I do not receive the same "excellent" health-care from him. At this point in time, my only take away from him is to be able to get his referral and requisition forms.

Unpersonable: I see his response to another patient's negative feedback on his eyes glued to only his laptop. See your patient like a human, not a product. The paperwork and admin matters are a few clicks that can be done later. Looking at the way he types, I can see why he's inefficient with admin, but I'm not too concerned. I just find every visit transactional- contrary to what the concept of what a "family" doctor does - show care, empathy and be human when diagnosing and treating patients.

My last visit was rushed, and the whole session with him was 8 mins (yes I timed it to prove myself wrong). I waited for 40 mins past the appointment time to see him. I hadn't finished my questions and my other issues but with him leaving his chair, I knew I shouldn't ask anymore.

At this point in time, I have given enough benefit of the doubt and I will move when I find another doctor accepting patients. This too will be another trial and error, unfortunately. This is perhaps how things work here.

Dr Houbi, I suspect you may reply with some defensive reasons, as evident in your responses to those negative reviews. You don't seem to listen and perhaps you no longer see the need to improve. A feedback is a gift. Hopefully your future patients will have more luck with you - if you listen to feedback and self reflect.

Over the years we had a few GPs - disappointed every single time and than we moved to a different community and we were blessed to get to this doctor.
If you were lucky to get to him before having to go through the frustration of other doctors then you don't know what is out there to compare to
He is not only a truly professional doctor but also a caring and heartful person.
He doesn't hesitate to make referrals to specialists where many others are either afraid to do it or don't want to
I would recommend this doctor to all my friends and people that are struggling to get through the web of so many undesirable situations or doctors

He is personable but cannot connect the dots....
Not a good diagnostician.
However his referrals are to good specialists.

Dr Houbi is amazing and caring. I trust him with my life—obviously! I can’t help but believe that if you don’t appreciate him the problem is with you, not Dr Houbi. The stress on medical staff is so intense right now that we need to count out blessings that they continue to put in such long hours, give us such excellent care and work so diligently to keep us well. Thank you, Dr Houbi, with all out hearts.

He was late, rushed and a poor communicator. He provided no medical advice and very unclear instruction on next steps. Unsurprisingly, the follow up was fumbled and I have lost all confidence in his competency.
