He was the best pediatrician ever for our middle son. We were sure our son was on the autism spectrum so we were referred to Dr. VanDyk by our family doctor. Dr. Van Dyk listened to our concerns and what we were seeing. Our son had previously been diagnosed with ADHD. Dr. VanDyk said he didn't think our son was on the spectrum but said he had other patients that were on the spectrum and you would never know it, so he sent in the referral to touch all the bases. When we had the assessment come back as PDD-NOS (mildly on the spectrum). Dr. VanDyk was so helpful and caring. He told me his brother was on the spectrum and my son reminded him.of his brother. My son had other ailments that Dr. VanDyk I feel went above and beyond to help solve them. I loved that when he entered the room he would say hello to myself and if I had my other 2 children with me as well would say hello and ask how they were, then he would turn to my middle guy say hello ask how he was, how was he feeling etc. etc. He always talked to him not around or above but to him. It made my son feel special that he wanted to hear from him and would listen to what he was saying. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Van Dyk. My son and I were heartbroken when he told us he was going back to South Africa. My son gave him a school picture and told him he would miss him. Dr. VanDyk told him he would miss him too, and that if he ever came back to kamloops my son could once again be his patient.
