I can't give 0 stars, so I'll give him and his staff 1 star. At age 61, on 6/6/2022, I fell from a gutter and fractured my L5 vertebrae. Because Concord Ortho offered a walk-in clinic, that was where I went. The PA immediately told me there was no surgical option for this type of injury and that an MRI was unnecessary. The sold me a brace to wear until my next appt. in 6 weeks. That appt. was with another PA who told me to try yoga. I told him that the pain was 9/10 and never stopped. I was all but crippled. The PA got me an MRI and 30 tablets of Tramadol for pain and at week 11 after my injury I finally met Dr. Brummett. Despite an MRI report that used the term SEVERE STENOSIS, Brumett came into the exam rom and announced to my wife and I that I we didn't need him. The radiologist didn't know what he was talking about. He was going to send me to physical therapy because once the swelling came down, I'd be fine. When I tried to explain all of the pain and immobility he laughed and said, "so you're refusing to go to PT then". He refused to renew my pain meds leaving me to Tylenol, Motrin and ice gel packs (almost useless). He said "return in 3 weeks and if you can't go to PT then I'll refer you for an epidural injection because once that inflammation goes down, you'll be fine. Dr. Brumett NEVER PHYSICALLY EXAMINED ME. While waiting for the injection I had an episode where my left leg let go in the shower and the pain was so bad that I had him paged. He had the woman who answers the phone tell me "Dr Brumett said you refused PT. Go to the emergency room if you're that bad and you may want a second opinion". I told her to relay that he was fired. Long story short. The epidural injection did nothing. Since the injury I had gone from a brace to a cane, to a walker! My new ortho surgeon diagnosed me by physically touching my back and legs and using the same report and MRI images that Brumett had ordered. He performed an L4/L5 Laminectomy to relieve the stenosis that the accident had caused. My new ortho surgeon even came in on Thanksgiving morning to remove the drain that was installed during my 11/22 surgery! He is a complete gentleman in comparison to Dr. Brumett. Today (now that I can walk) I'm going to PT and doing much better. The lack of professionalism by Dr. Brumett isn't opinion - it's fact. I learned at an early age that the best men regardless of their profession are a combination of courage and compassion. Dr. Brumett displayed neither to me nor my wife. When my pain and mobility were all but gone, he told me to get a second opinion and blamed me for "refusing PT". Don't be fooled or wooed by his laughter, cowboy boots or Harvard diploma- this man should not be a doctor.

this comment is in addition to my other comments in a previous review. I felt that since I had seen other dr.s for my issue, he asked my why I was even here. He never "heard" most of what I was saying due to the fact that he, along with all others just plain don't want to help you. Why are some people getting surgery and others not ? what affliction do you need to justify surgery? Didn't they learn how to help you in med school? I admit he did not rush out to suggest Rx but did pawn me off to someone else. Obviously, if you are not satisfied with a diagnosis, aren't you supposed to seek another opinion? Not all dr.s are great and willing or able to help so you move on. Doesn't mean the problem is NOT fixable. There are current state-of- the art are procedures these days (IN THIS STATE) but they never mention them or are willing (I guess) to learn about them. They want easy surgeries like broken legs. sheesh. I am very dissapointed in him since he came so highly recommended. If they are educated correctly, they would know when to suggest physical therapy. You don't go to physical therapy (you
go to a gym) just because you have pain. And p/t and yoga will not correct MY issue.

Dr Brumett wants to perform surgery on patients that only guarantee him a positive outcome. If your not in that category go elsewhere. The hot dog surgeon that wears cowboy boots to your appointment. Oh bow down to Dr. House !

I have had 2 spinal sugeries and will only go back to Dr. Brumett!! He has a wonderful bedside manner, all of my questions were answered, and he fully supported me to be in charge of my own timeline for surgery (ie. trying pt 1st and surgery as a last option). I had my last surgery on the day of a big snow storm - when we showed up, he was already there (surgery was for 7am - check in shortly after 6am), but we had to wait for the ansethologist (spelling?) to come in. He spent part of our time waiting talking w/ me, and making jokes to make me feel more at ease (as this was my 2nd surgery w/ him and we had had many appts. before this). I have recommended him to many people I know, and would go back to him in a heartbeat, if needed!
