Dr. S performed the Bar Sleeve on me in mid May 2015. I went through the Ohio Health Weight Loss program and he was one of the physicians. I was not impressed at all with Ohio Health Weight Loss program staff, they are inconsiderate and their perceived power over the patients lives is ridiculous! Back to Dr. S and his direct staff and my experience: I found Dr. S to be sincere and genuine in all interactions. He was knowledgeable, and encouraging throughout our interactions. The staff at his office were very caring and kind. My procedure went through with no complications, and my recovery was quick and I followed the program and listened to my body.

Dr. S performed a gastric bypass on my father, and he passed away. Dr. S was removing scar tissue from my father's colon, and perforated it. He sewed it up, but the next day, my father was in septic shock. Turns out, Dr S. "missed a couple of holes" (his words) when he was sewing my dad back up. It took nearly an entire day for someone to realize that my dad had a 105 degree fever and had urine in his cath bag. They performed emergency surgery to correct the problem, but the damage had been done. My dad ended up in a medically induced coma, and died about a week later. He was 56. Had Dr. S stopped doing the first surgery laproscopically, my father possibly could have survived. To add insult to injury, Dr S listed my fathers death as a "natural death," because, you know, death from a doctors mistake is natural.

I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Sonnanstine. Dr. Sonnanstine repaired a large ventral hernia within two weeks after I first saw him. He has to be the friendliest, warmest and most honest Doctor I have ever encountered. His staff was extremely friendly and kind. While recovering in the hospital, Dr. Sonnanstine saw me himself on both days and was just as kind. If I could have Dr. Sonnanstine as my life long physician for every medical need I would. I am a true fan. I wish all doctors could be like him. I also wish all physicians offices were exactly like his.

When I started it was Fresh Start Bariatrics. Dr S and Kristi the nutritionist saved my life! I learned how to eat properly and was given an opportunity to change. The surgery was great, the staff AMAZING! I now am off all insulin, my blood pressure medication reduced and I now have a new lease on life all due to the tools they provided me to make my life better! So happy and would recommend to anyone who is considering this lifestyle change. It's worth it!

Dr Tom started in my bariatric programs office in october and i just had gastric bypass done on 12/2/2011. Dr Tom has always been very kind and knowledgable. Two days after surgery I had a complication - i had a partial bowel obstruction. It was a sunday morning and by the time i was back from xray dr tom was at the hospital and he went in immediately and fixed it. I think hes a very patient oriented doctor and i would recomend him to anyone looking at bariatric surgery.

Accidents happen to/with everyone. However, after a routine surgery, it took 6 days for Dr. Tom to believe I needed another surgery to repair the colon he nicked. I gained 30 pounds in these 5 days and felt 9 months pregnant with triplets. After he finally did the surgery to repair, he said all should be well. It wasn't. I had to see an abdominal specialist to have my abdomin reconstructed. The recovery from this surgery was 3 months. This surgeon said that Dr. Tom knew all along that I would need another surgery to repair all the damage from sepsis. In all of my return visits (many), he NEVER mentioned I would need another surgery. It would have been nice to know.
