This is my initial review of any physician. I am a retired university professor, and I saw Dr Leung for my upper back pain. If I may, I like to share some vital medico-sociologic data before I explain how Dr Leung saved my life. Physicians in America were highly respected in general during the first half of the 20th Century before a trend occurred from the 1970s - 90s when patients began to regard physicians with much less esteem, as evidenced by the escalation in malpractice lawsuits. The availability of the World Wide Web provided an outlet for patients to voice their opinions, and patients have increasingly taken advantage of the opportunity, especially in recent years. Modern physicians are often treated with disrespect, and dissatisfied patients can exact revenge online. Many potential candidates for medical school, however, may choose other callings rather than the difficult route of a medical career. There will be a shortage of 100,000 physicians by 2025. The present 320 million people residing in America are being served by around 800,000 physicians who have a clinical practice and actively care for them. Physicians work under tight regulation at many different levels. It's a sad sign of modern times when potential physicians decide the risks are greater than rewards. I am writing my first review today for the physician who saved my life: Dr Leung. I saw many doctors, underwent many radiographic studies of my spine and had many spine injections. Spine surgeons saw only degenerative changes in my spine and thus had no surgery to offer. My back pain got so bad, my personal doctor finally sent me to Dr Leung, who reviewed my records, prior studies and treatments, and took my history and examined me. He suspected I had an unusual presentation, and he recommended to my referring physician that she may want to exclude the possibility of heart disease as an uncommon but potential cause of upper back pain. I had a stress test that found angina and angiography revealed chronic total occlusion of my main coronary arteries. A cardiothoracic surgeon performed open heart surgery and said I may have likely died if it weren’t for Dr Leung's acumen followed by quick action. I thanked Dr Leung during my follow up, but he humbly said it was mere luck and proceeded to give the credit to my physician and surgeon. Hence, as I am the first to write a review on Dr Leung on this physician review site, I am deeply grateful to Dr Leung and I wish all of his past and current patients take the time to write reviews also. Let's use the World Wide Web in a positive manner and keep the brightest and best physicians like Dr Leung in the field of Medicine instead of choosing other careers.
