I came to Florida from NE, because I was running away from an abusive husband and needed to be with my 90 year old mother. I could no longer work due to a two stage surgery at BMC, which allowed students to perform surgery that later was identified to be cutting into my spinal canal. I first went to Lyerly grp. who put me through a rigorous battery of tests that lead the neurosurgeon evaluation for surgery immediately. I called every week to schedule a surgery date, but no one called back. So I tried to by pass Theresa the attending nurse who was to schedule the surgery finally got through to the attending physicians assistant, who assured me that the neurosurgeon was not trying to avoid me. Four months went by and eventually the scheduling RN Theresa called me back, and yelled at me about how complex my surgery was, that no one would want to try to repair the misplaced hardware breaching the spinal canal and how much time out of her work day it would take for her to do my pre-op tests and paperwork. I was crushed, scared, and terrified of doing further damage before / or if any doctor would help me. A week or two later, the Lyerly grp neurosurgeon called me personally and denied me because I was too depressed and the Lawyers of the Lyerly grp and Baptist hospital would Not cover the neurosurgeon if he agreed to repair my back. It took me another year to get up the nerves to begin searching for another neurosurgeon. But I did. I went to Dr. Scibelli. Every time I met with him, I tried to be upbeat and Not depressed for fear he would turn me down. I was terrified to tell him about Lyerly turning me down because I was considered such a liability.... I can not even begin to tell you how hopeless I felt within, Yet trying to smile throughout. Dr. Scibelli did my surgery on Oct. 5 2016 right before hurricane Matthew hit land and Exactly 5 years to my 2 stage surgery at BMC in 2011. My long professional career was in rating all community and long/short term healthcare system. I know the accreditations required for hospitals and the experience necessary to find a qualified and experienced surgeon. With that bit of background information, I can tell you without a doubt that Dr. Scibelli gave me back my hope, my life really. He did a HUGE surgery. My operation was 12 hours long and Dr. Scibelli and his absolutely skilled Memorial Hospital team, stayed there all that time to remove my old hardware, which was rods bolts, cages and screws, etc., and give me a second chance for a better life. In April I saw an xray of my new hardware that Dr. Scibelli put into my spine and the work was in precise position, compared to my previous surgery Xrays. I have a long way to go, but today I am in far less pain which will only lesson with time and when I am able to start an exercise regime. I know far more about spine surgery than I ever wanted to know, and I know he is got to be one of the best complex spine surgeons in the nation. He has had special scoliosis training and that expertise is hard to find. He is a compassionate surgeon, he Really Does Care. I was alone through my surgery and he came to see me several times in the hospital. When he was off Dr. Munz checked in on me. Point being -he IS the best. I owe my second chance for life to him. And I truly mean that.

This is THE DOCTOR! It is amazing Jacksonville has a doctor like Dr. Scibelli. He gave me a life again! I was operated on at baptist hospital and hurt more. Then told nothing could be done by two more surgeons. I was miserable. I started researching for a world class neurosurgeons and kept hearing from other doctors here and across the region that I should go see Dr. Scibelli. I didn't realize we had such uniquely skilled neurosurgeon in town. I went and saw him. In his waiting room were people who had flown in from Virginia, North Carolina, New Mexico. I met with him three times as he ordered tests and examined me at length. Every time making clear what WE were doing and why. No one else could even explain the problem before. He then scheduled my surgery. I went from basically home bound before surgery to normal with in 3 months of surgery. I see when people travel to come to OUR neurosurgeon!

Dr. Scibelli got me from sitting at home to playing 18 holes of golf again. When I met him he had fixed my friend the year before. I had had 3 surgeries on my back in last 40 years. Most recently 2 years before meeting Dr. Scibelli. My orthopedic surgeon told me I would never play golf again after my last surgery. When I met Dr. Scibelli the first day he told me I would golf again. He said I would dislike him for a month after surgery but then we would be friends. I never disliked him and I was golfing in 6 months and played my first full 18 holes at 9 months. I am thrilled. It likely kept my wife sane getting me back to golf too.

Dr. Scibelli took my pain away. I had lived in agony. True agony. I had 5 surgeries by 3 other neurosurgeons in jacksonville each only made me worse. Then my primary doctor told me Dr. Scibelli had recently moved to jacksonville. I didn't want another surgeon. My doctor told me Dr. Scibelli was different, more skilled, felt with the most complex cases. My doctor had gone to him. I met Dr. Scibelli, he spent an hour and a half with me the first time then an hour the next visit. Then the next. He was kind and patient and treated me like family. In the end we developed an operative plan and when it was over I was pain free for the first time in years. All the other neurosurgeons just aren't Dr. Scibelli. He is the best! Since then he has fixed my dad and my husband. Thank god for Him!!!

Dr. Scibelli is the best he saved my life and mobility. When I came to him I was bent over with scolosis, my legs were spasming constantly. I had a spinal cord stimulator that was not monitored properly the leads in my T-10 portion of my back the leads had stop working and the stimulator was not stopping the pain I was having in my lower back and legs. When I was referred to Dr. Scibelli he was professional, knowledgeable, and explain that I was having a big surgery. After fourteen months I feel like a new person if only I would have saw him in 2007 I personally feel that my mobility and life would be better than it is today. Pain management doctors are okay just be assured that they order necessary testing that monitor the area of your body that has been injured. They believe in prescribing nocotics that changes your whole life style and personality. They believe in INJECTIONS. DR SCIBELLI IS THE BEST!!!!!!His staff is polite also.
