The staff at Columbia's Dept. of Rehabilitation Medicine is useless, so don't count on any help from that quarter. When I first started seeing Dr. Chantasi, I thought he had a superb bedside manner. However, over the last year he seems to have developed bipolar disorder or something. One visit he'll be wonderful and the next he'll be the nightmare physician from Hades. I've been in chronic pain since before he graduated from medical school and he seems to have lost touch with how severe chronic pain can utterly destroy one's family life and career. During a recent visit a seemed annoyed that I was depressed about being in pain for so long. I will continue to see him for pain management, but I'm on the lookout for a new pain management specialist. It's just not worth it to trek all the way up to Columbia-Presbyterian to be treated like a cockroach.
