Had a double mastectomy 13 days ago. Home in 3 days, still on the road to recovery but am grateful to Dr Gault, his smiling helpful staff and his breast care nurses, Sharon and Julie. Life is definitely challenging at present but I have felt well supported over the last 2 weeks and feel confident of ongoing care by all concerned.

After being diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2023, I have been under the care of Dr Gault for a mastectomy procedure. From the initial consultation to the postoperative follow-ups, Dr Gault displayed exceptional professionalism, expertise and compassion, which have made a lasting impression on me. Dr Gault’s attention to detail extended to the tidiness of my wound. The incision site was meticulously handled, resulting in a tidy and well-closed wound. Both my physiotherapist and my breast care nurse were amazed with Dr Gault’s skillful hands when they saw my wound. I feel truly fortunate to have had such a remarkable surgeon and his supportive team by my side. I will always be grateful for the incredible care and support that Dr Gault and his team provided me during this challenging time in my life. Dr Gault and his team are wonderful, caring professionals. I couldn't have asked for better care for my surgery. Dr Gault is a very thoughtful, kind and compassionate man and he really went the extra mile for me. He came highly recommended to me by another medical professional, and I am so glad I am under his care. I had some complications (unrelated to his care) and he could not have done more for me, visiting me in hospital 7 days per week, staying right on top of everything that was going on with me, never leaving until he was sure I was OK, and keeping me informed about everything.

Nurse Julie is a lovely, intelligent and committed professional. She was constantly in touch to make sure I was OK and even made contact with me whilst she was on an overseas holiday. Admin staff Jo and Amy are also wonderful people.

I would not recommend Dr Gault. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, he performed a double mastectomy and the outcome was of significant disfigurement, I have had to seek another surgeon to repair what he did. Dr Gault never acknowledged the poor result and his manner regarding this was dismissive and rude. My Husband and I could not believe how he could be kind one day then the polar opposite another day. He needs to understand that patients are people not objects. Every patient deserves the best outcome and not be left disfigured in pain.

Dr Gault is simply the very best surgeon I have ever had.
I have had several surgeries over the past 8 years both here in Australia and in the US, And Dr. Gault is unequivocally the most skillful surgeon I have ever seen.
Surgeons have a reputation for poor bedside manner (don't spend time with patients explaining and answering questions....etc). First of all, Dr. Gault is the exact opposite to all other surgeons out there. Dr. Gault takes his time to explain in detail everything that a patient needs to know, and he will ask more than once if you have any further questions, to make certain that you have all the information you need. (this is a very rare and an amazing quality that 90% of surgeons do not have).
Dr. Gault's surgical skills are outstanding. I had a bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction due to breast cancer.
Dr. Gault's work is by far the very best I have seen. My friend and my stepmother both had this same procedure by other surgeons and they were blown away when they saw Dr. Gault's work on my chest. They wished they knew about Dr. Gault before they had their procedures.
As well as having phenomenal surgical skills, Dr. Gault is a perfectionist.
I have ran into 3 other women randomly who had breast surgeries, and when I asked them about their surgeon, all 3 said their surgeon was Dr. Gault and they went on and on about how great he is and how pleased they were with him.
I am so very very happy that it was Dr. Gault who operated on me.
As for Dr. Gault's staff, they are amazing. Julie is just something else. She is so very caring and compassionate. Julie randomly called to check up on me during my Chemo treatment and she knew just what to say to make give me a sense of comfort and confedence. Thank you ever so much Julie, you are amazing.
The ladies at the front desk were also great. They knew exactly what was required and when and how to execute the several steps leading up to the surgeries and post. They were also very meticulous with explaining all that to me. Thank you.

So, to the most phenomenal surgeon who saved my life, I am forever grateful.

I have absolutely blessed to have Dr Gault and his amazing team look after me for 8 years since my cancer diagnosis. As a young mum I was devastated and was so grateful for the support and treatment and ongoing care from Dr Gault and his breast care nurse Julie. I had reconstructive surgery after bilateral mastectomies and the results have been amazing. I’m so happy. I am a registered nurse with a theatre background and Dr Gault is who I have referred many of my friends to. He is an amazing surgeon. Very professional and helpful with whatever requests I have. I will always be thankful to him for saving my life. My daughters have met him and I proudly say this is the doctor that saved mummy’s life.

I had a double mastectomy at hug gap fees with this doctor and I am appalled at the way he left me. Apparently I only needed a single but he said he cold never construct one boob to math the other and it was better in case cancer turned up in the other breast later on... He doesn't use a plastic surgeon and will not refer to one. So I either stay looking like I've been hacked up by a trainee or pay many thousands of dollars to change another plastic surgery. Ask around before you commit to this surgeon. He was so arrogant and did not give me a choice in implants, or talk about them saying he knew best - what would I know Ive never dealt with these before. In front of my husband he was a little less rude but certainly not professional how he spoke with and dealt with my cancer. DO NOT RECOMMEND,

Hi, my name is Caroline and I have been under the care of Dr Gault since I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in August 2021.
Since that day I have had nothing but care, compassion and the best service from Dr Gault and his team. Each procedure I had was explained carefully and I always felt assured that Dr Gault had my best interest at heart. All questions (and believe me I had plenty) were answered whether big or small and all expectations were met. My double mastectomy, lymph node removal and reconstruction procedure all went smoothly, and I am very happy with the results.
Julie his breast care nurse was/is always available to me with any questions or concerns I had, and she has constantly reassured me when I have been feeling nervous. Jo his front office manager helped me when my Private health claim was mixed up and every question I have asked has been answered. Nothing has been a bother.
My experience with Gault Surgery has been nothing but 100% positive and I would highly recommend them.

I had breast surgery with John Gault. I have extensive scarring from the operation which is disproportionate to the small cancer I had. Subsequent breast cancer specialists have expressed disbelief at the appearance of my breast. Communication with my husband at the hospital on the day of surgery was non-existent. I would not recommend John Gault as a breast surgeon and wish I never met him. Worst of all was he tried to pressure me at my first appointment into a double mastectomy to occur within only days.

Had breast cancer surgery double mastectomy in public. What a disaster. He multilated me sad would not fix it. Said I should be grateful he removed the cancer. He was so rude and would not refer me to a plastic surgeon to fix up his brutality. I went private to plastic surgeon as Gault was a general surgeon even tho I see he now advertises as oncoplastic s!!! He’s not!!! And he won’t refer you to one - maybe cos he doesn’t want real plastic surgeons see his “work”. Steer clear.
