Was referred to her after moving to the lower mainland. The first visit we had she seemed to be very abrupt and was very short with it. We had a couple more visits with her over the next year and a half, and didn’t really have any issues other than she seemed very uninvested.

Then after an appointment, I was told (very rudely by her) that I was supposed to get a re-referral every 6 months (which had never been mentioned before, and we had been there much longer than 6 months). I then apologized and said I was unaware of this, and then she told me in an EXTREMELY condescending tone “well I guess I just won’t get paid for my time today..”. I got a new referral sent to her literally that day, and since then she has ignored us. I’ve emailed and called for a new appointment as we need a prescription refill for my son’s ADHD medication, and even got the re-referral sent over again and still haven’t heard from her. It’s been almost a year now and she has quite literally abandoned us. Very disconcerting behavior from someone who is supposed to care for children. Judging by the other reviews, this seems to be common practice type behavior for her. I will be submitting a formal complaint to the College of Physicians and Surgeons.

We adopted twins and needed special help, she was so amazing and helpful. I really appreciated seeing her and her recommendations.

Useless doctor. Doesn't listen to you and just says "ok we'll just agree to disagree" in the most condescending way. Despite having a diagnosis for ADHD and a recommendation from a psychiatrist for a stimulant, she refuses to prescribe one.

Don't go here unless you want to be told "eat breakfast, drink water, exercise and take omega 3".

We initially were referred here because we wanted to avoid prescriptions as the first option. Now that we've exhausted other options and had an official ADHD diagnosis we can't get what we need.

From comment below:
"I have never, in my life, dealt with such horrible bedside manner, and from a ‘pediatrician’, no less. She is cold and rude upon arrival. Condescending, passive aggressive, and patronizing, in her approach. " Exactly my experience.

Dr Kalaher is a total quack. I took my daughter to her for an autism evaluation and she denied the necessity, tried to push ADHD meds on us when I didn’t want them, and eventually wrote a letter to ask that my daughter be seen for a “brief evaluation”. It was about a 10 min evaluation with me present and 20 min alone with daughter, and dr Kalaher all but told the evaluator it was unnecessary and she was just doing it to get me off her back. It has now followed us for 10 years haunting us and we are trying again.

If I could leave ZERO stars I would. After 3 children and several doctors and specialist, Dr. Kalaher is by far THE WORST doctor I have ever met. I just found this website but my experience was 2 years ago with my son. Long story short, many visits and horrific experience with how she speaks with her clients, how she speaks to you like 'just do this x,y,z your problem is fixed.' I can't write enough awful things to warn parents to stay away. I went into almost a depressive state after how she spoke to me and what's wrong with your child... Not sure if the MOA is still working there that we met but she was no better. Younger, obviously no children of her own as she was cold, short and absolutely no patience or empathy. 0/10.

I really appreciate Dr Kalaher. She is direct and to the point, which I like. She engages with my son and wants to hear from him before me. Which makes total sense because he’s her patient. I have never found her rude or uncaring. Her questions may be blunt but working in medicine they need to be in order to get the specific information she needs. She has helped my son greatly and continues to help him.

My son has been a long-time patient of Dr. Kalaher. She is knowledgable and to the point. She is a keen listener and seeks to find the root of the problem, quickly, but not in a rushed manner. She follows up on tests and takes very thorough notes to which she always provides me with a copy. I always leave there feeling like my concerns are supported and my son has received the best care. She's a fantastic physician and I'm thankful for her care.
