I was a patient of Dr. Ansari for approximately 7 months. Just months prior to that I had all the excruciating tests done by the doctor that Ansari replaced and the diagnosis was peripheral neuropothy. On my first visit with Dr Ansari he performed these tests again. I questioned him on this and he told me he would only do a partial test. I went thru painful electric jolts once again and not only did he find the same results, but I later found that my insurance would not cover this expensive test. I did have Sanford remove that charge but I had to go thru the hassle. I saw Dr. Ansari twice after that, just to have him ask how I saw doing and my reply of no change. I found his nurse Sarah to be polite to a point. This is one of the last emails sent to her...
The lidocain patches were a joke. I had no clue he was going to prescribe a box of them. All I wanted was some temporary relief from the pain until the Lyrica took effect. I ended up paying $14 for one. I should have spent that on a restaurant meal.
At this point I am wondering why I pay an expensive neuro to treat me when my GP could do the same for less and not hear comments on how lucky I am (or some such bull) to have gotten in when his patients wait 3 months to see him. Maybe there is nothing more that can be done other than to live with the daily pain. I don't have that answer and it seems Dr A. doesn't either.
So, at this point do I let you know when I need refills on Lyrica or have that handled through a GP?
Approximately 1 year later I researched all the neuro's and found one that had a long tenure as a neuro and decided I would give him a try. He too was a Sanford physician in the same office as Dr. Ansari. I called the office, gave them my name and asked to make an appointment. I was told to expect a call back and later that day was told by the receptionist that Dr. Ansari is the "resident PN specialist" and that the doctor I asked to see did not do second opinions. This doc may know some things, but with 8 yrs experience I found him to just want to see you every 6 months to pad his pocket.
