Dr. Elkon understands pain and chronic health management. She is able to explain pain and health conditions in a way that is easy to understand and teaches self-management skills to live a full life despite pain. She is caring, understanding, knowledgeable, and professional. Not many mental health docs, or even medical docs, “get” pain. She does, with humor and compassion. Dr. Elkon is a great addition to the treatment team, not just another appointment. Strongly recommend.

I am a Veteran of the United States Army having served during the Gulf War Era. My cases was remanded by the Board of Veterans Appeal (BVA) to the VA Regional Office (VARO) and a Compensation & Pension (C&P) Exam was administered to me by Dr Andrea Elkon. She stated that a thorough review of my records showed that there was no symptomology of mental health during my first period of service which was an outright lie in that I'd not only complained, but was also prescribed Norpramin which is specifically prescribed for anxiety and depression during my first period of service which was clearly documented in my records. Also prior to my discharge from Active Duty, I was hospitalized and prescribed Norpramin which connects my mental health symptomology throughout my first and second periods of service. Dr Elkon gave me a survey to take which has about 100 questions on it and explained that there were no right or wrong answers, yet turned around on the C&P examination notes and stated vehemently that I outright lied & feigned overstating as well as exaggerating my symptoms. Based solely off her (C&P) report the VA Regional Office as well as the Board of Veterans Appeals denied my claim for Service Connection. However, I appealed the ruling made to the United States Court of Veterans Appeals (CACV) & 18 months later with assistance from a legal counsel, my claim was vacated and remanded again to the Board of Veterans Apppeals with special instructions to correct their errors as well as given 60 days to do so. Dr Elkon railroaded me on her Compensation & Pension report (C&P). She attempted to make me out to be a liar, yet my legal counsel found otherwise. I strongly advise that any Veteran keep fighting for their rights after serving their country and do not allow inviduals who hold PhD's in Psychology to mess them over like Dr. Andrea Elkon attempted to do me, this is a travesty and injustice and I'm singling her out specifically as being an unprofessional practitioner. Any Veteran can get their records off of eBenefits account, please do not give up your fight for the compensation and benefits that you're entitled to.

All she cares is about money. She spends a lot of time talking about your childhood. What does that have to do with how I am as a grown veteran? I was good enough to get in with my past and serve many years. Now my childhood is an issue?

WOW!!! I just found this site. I too, had a very bad experience with this "doctor"! She told me after about 5 minutes into my C and P interview that I was there only to get money from the Government! When I got home I was about as mad as I could be! Wrote a letter to Ms Wiggins, VA head at Atlanta to complain! Also wrote to my Congressman. Have yet to hear from Wiggins but I did hear from one of her minions. Heard from my Congressman 3 times. Go figure! oh, did I mention I was denied benefits. VA would rather have us die. It is much cheaper than fulfilling a promise! If anyone should want proof of the above, all documented and I will provide to the right officials.
