Our experience with Dr. Feinberg was not in any way positive. She has a stiff and awkward demeanor that makes it hard to connect to her and feel as if she is actually listening and attending to you individually. She seems to respond with training but not with any sense of compassion or warmth or genuine curiosity. At the time we started with her we could not find anyone else with openings and so we took what we could get by working with her. During our time with her, she withheld crucial information from us, the parents, revealed to her by adolescent child. By not sharing this information with us and referring to it only vaguely, a tragic event occurred that likely would not have happened in the way that it did if she had spoken directly to us about her suspicions regarding the child. At no time has she presented herself as an ally, as someone who cares. She is a businesswoman and that is how her practice operates. Going into her office is the saddest experience -- there are signs that she works with children in the toys scattered about and the color of the sofa (pink) but there is nothing in her body language or facial expressions or dialogue that seems motivated by genuine interest in and ethical care for...well, anyone. If you cannot find anyone else, then Dr. Feinberg will do, but you need to be assertive about your needs and expectations and make sure she is sharing with you everything she should about what she knows of your child and your child's thoughts & intentions & experiences. Caveat emptor.
