No compassion at all. Did not treat my problems, was worse after going to her. I would not recommend her.

She’s very aggressive not compassionate at all. Just didn’t want to understand that some meds were not working

Went in for a routine colonoscopy. Dr. Shek had done one ten years earlier with no problems. However, this time she made a mistake which almost killed me. I ended up in ER and ICU with huge blood loss and in very bad condition. She was non-apologetic, arrogant and seemed to be confused because I was upset with her - as if I had no right to be upset that she almost killed me. Have had many people tell me since my episode that she was asked to leave another practice and has injured many other people. She never explained to me or my family what happened to me. Had a hard time getting records and lab results which I requested be sent to my primary doctor.

Have been going to her for years and never really had a problem. Had a rx problem and she called me at home and I would have to say she was rude. Although this is the first complaint I have had I am still going to switch drs as she is not convenient for me to see location-wise.

I saw this physician for 11 years all she did was run risky and expensive procedures and never was able to control my pain. As a GI doctor, I would that she would have been able to manage my Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I recently was evaluated by my Primary Care Physician and he prescribed Tramadol and I am pain free. She recently wanted do perform yet another endoscopy which would have my 3rd with medical reason. She suspected I had Celiac Disease and yet my symptoms were not indicative of this. I am hoping that people read reviews because they are so important when it comes to choosing a physician.

Initially requested, then reminded and finally begged for copy of colonoscopy results to be forwarded to my primary MD. Suspect the report was never dictated at time of service, for the report did not reflect the verbal summary provided at time of service. Dr. is not very kind or caring. Some staff are curt,rude and disorganized, repeatedly treated patient as bothersome. Received partial refund for overpayment without explanation 19 months after services provided.

I think she is a great Dr.she explained everything to me. I had a scan done on a Monday she called the next day with the results..That fact that she has an interest in the Manatee Surgical Center is no big deal lots of doctors in Manatee County do.This was my 4th time in the center and the knowledge & compassion from the people at the front office to the last person that takes you to your car is EXCELLENT

BEWARE! This doctor orders tests you don't need because she co-owns the manatee surgical center where she performs the tests. She will not help you unless you agree to the tests.

Dr. Shek is terrific! She asks probing questions, listens, schedules testing, and after she has all the diagnostic tests in hand, diagnoses and prescribes. She makes all follow-up phone calls HERSELF. I drive a significant distance to see her....I think she is the BEST!

She was so compassionate, kind, intelligent and explained everything very clearly to me in words I can understand. She is by far the best doctor I have ever seen. No wonder she was the Doctor of the Year 2003. I have sent my fellow workers, family and friends and they all love her like I do. She is truly the best.
