Dr. Calabrese and his wife, Dr. Mercier, are moving out of state. They will be deeply missed. I have been Dr. Calabrese's patient for several years and he always treated me very kindly and professionally. I wish him well.

I waited over an hour in the waiting room while the receptionist talked to a friend at the window. Then I waited another 1/2 hour in the room to see the Doctor. While I was waiting I could hear this man diagnosing other patients through the paper thin walls. I could also hear him yelling for his nurses and barking orders. Doctor Calabrese bad mouthed Covenant ER’s credibility by telling me that “they don’t know what they’re doing they’re all just residents”. He asked about my symptoms and then rudely interrupted me and talked over me while I tried to answer. He got upset when I asked questions about my treatment. He tried to tell me that there was only one surgeon that accepts my insurance in this area, which was a lie because I went home and did some research. It was a terrible experience, save yourself a large headache and STAY AWAY!!

Dr. Calabrese has a habit of diagnosing most(almost all)of his patients with "apparently" "COPD with Asthma component". I read patient charts and do medical coding for a living, therefore, I see alot of charting of many doctors. In his notes, it seems as if he is rambling on and on without saying anything. Many times I have not been able to tell why the patient was even seen.

he loves to talk, very friendly. however does not address problems you come in for. He sits at the computer and lets you know of all the test you will need. Does not allow anyone whatsoever to come back with you. He says its better to take blood work (chol.) with out fasting. Other drs. cannot believe this. Lies to protect his own butt.

I quit his office 3 or 4 years ago and I have been happy I did. It was amazing it took me so long to leave. The final straw was a colonoscopy he did on me at an area hospital. My insurance paid him but refused to pay the hospital since they didn't have a contract with them. He always spouted insurance company requirements before this and I'm sure he knew of this problem beforehand. His "office manager" tried to straighten it out but I'm sure it was only when I was there watching. The "polyp" he removed was supposedly biopsied but the lab "never sent a report to him" so he assumed it was negative! He was very outraged that I demanded a report, positive or negative. I never have found out the results since I don't know which lab he used.

I saw Dr. Calabrese twice, and like all the previous reviews, I learned very quickly what his true character is like. I went back for test results, and was not even told of the results-he was yelling at his staff for sending me to a lab other than his in office lab. I asked them to do this! I was shocked at his treatment of his staff, in front of patients. I never went back, though they called me a few times to do so.

I have to agree with the previous reviews. Dr. Calabrese is certainly not open to new ideas and does not like to be questioned. He was a much better doctor 12 years ago. Most of his staff tries hard, in spite of his antics.

Do not even attempt to ask him any questions, as we found out that strikes a nerve in him that apparently intimidates his authority. Especially since I come from a career in the medical field myself & knew that the things he was telling us were not correct. So when I respectfully questioned him on those topics of concern, he actually yelled at me in front of all staff & patients (and that was on our first visit there). He would not listen to my husband about previous diagnosis, tests & symptoms, of which could have helped properly treat my husband. He was very arrogant & ill-mannered with the poorest bad side manner. We observed him being very loud & rude not only with us, but also with his staff, of which we found this to be very unprofessional and disrespectful. From the moment we checked into the office, to the moment we left, it was a very cold & uneasy experience. Needless to say we never went back & we have known others who left there too!
