I Saw Dr. Hanley for many years and found him to be competent and consientious. Both of my parents saw him and lived much longer than would have been predicted. Some people seem to blaim him for things that went wrong with them, let's get in the real world folks, some of these things would have happened regardless of who we see; they're genetic. As for all the griping about his PA's, he is fully informed as to what they do and usually tells them how to do it. They have a meeting every morning to go over every patient they are to see that day and then some. Also, one of those PAs was the national PA of the year a few years ago.

He doesn't seem to keep up with current medical information. His physicans assissants seem much more knowledgeable than he does. You get the impression that he went into medicine for the money.

My husband was given Advar inhaler and steriods and too many drugs to name ,he also ended up in the hospital finally with sepsis and he is lucky to be alive , who kept giving him these drugs and it states on the paper work that ,it may cuase symptoms like amnonia,if this happens contact doctor ,well all he did was in crease his dose and wanted to test him for aids again, becuse he thought it was a autoamune problem, which we told him from the beginning that he inhaled somthing into his lung and has been sick since.at first we where told he had a cold by a different dr.till the first time he ended up in the hospital. then it got worse a,then alittle better(becuase of the Steroids) then he'd get worse again then he was given inhalers and more antibiatics and more steroids,in and out of the hospital until finally his body just couldnt handle it and his body started shutting down,Dr Hanley did not cuase all of this but he sure did not help and we where stupid to keep going back to him.

The numerous times I say him I do not feel he satisfactorily listened to my concerns or cared to answer my questions. I have been dealing with my disease for a long time and he trested me as if I was totally ignorant of my worsening symptoms that he chose not to treat, but withing a few days of non-treatment I was hospitalized and eventually went to mayo clinic for competant treatment. Given the choice he is the only lung doc in Fairbanks I recommend folks to go to Anchorage or Seattle. Time for tihs doc to retire if you ask me.

Good competent doctor. Very knowledgeable in some areas, less so in others. Runs practice very businesslike. No warm fuzzies or going the extra step for patients. Hard to see and if need to see quickly will be passed on to one of his Physicians Assistants. If you have any question or problem related to something that you have recently seen him or one of his PA's for and which could be answered with a quick phone call, he has a policy of instructing staff to require you to make a whole new appointment to have it answered (usually many week/months later for him - or in a week or two with a PA).
