A smile is not enough and it's definitely not enough for an unhappy client.

Beware, even if you're crossing your t's and dotting your i's, if this doctor, Dr. Ballard, owner of Cloud Nine Dental, isn't in network for you, don't trust their office with any final bill price (after "insurance") that they tell you to pay. And if so, pay it immediately before they change their mind and increase it, as they did to me.

a $825 (before insurance) root canal quote given on 2/24/2017 turned into a $510 bill (after a 50% insurance discount) on 3/3/2017 which was also the day the root canal was performed. Everybody was happy. But three days later, on 3/6/2017 the $510 bill turned into a $1020 bill.
This happened because we were told that they had called my insurance when in fact they hadn't. The word estimate was never used when before the procedure

I checked my insurance and they've sent in two claims
1. Claim #1. For the $1,020 (root canal and filling) in which my insurance paid them almost $300 (which the insurance bases on Zipcode).
2. Claim #2. For the $103 (consultation and ONE tooth Periepical X-ray) which they already got paid by my daughter AND now again the INSURANCE has paid them. Paid twice for the same day and service.

If all parties involved were to stick to what was agreed upon on before and after the services were rendered, what I owe them is only $410. The price of $510 we were given on the day of 3/3/2017, minus the $100 I paid in full for 2/24/2017 services which my insurance agreed to cover.

UPDATE:

Today is 3/15/2017

My daughter called the office today to get this sorted out and she got bluffed off. It seems neither Rose nor Lisa are accepting any amount of responsibility for the series of miscommunications that have occurred. Not even for my daughter having been quoted $825 for a procedure that actually costs $1020, before insurance.

Lisa, I'm disappointed in you. Today, 3/15/2017 you told my daughter when she called that most insurances dont give information over the phone to you, which is not true and you're using that as an excuse for never having called my insurance as you had promised.

****************
You now tell my daughter the 50% you used instead of my actual insurance discount is a "low ball discount" that is common practice in your office because you assumed in the end my insurance would cover more. You could've just been honest with us and told us no one ever called our insurance and we would've been able to make an informed decision about wether to go forward with the root canal or not.
****************

And Rose, to you I say, my daughter accepted services when you told her that the insurance isn't going to cover 80%, rather that they would only cover 50%. We accepted THAT. But now you top yourself by not admitting that's what you said.

And on the short conversations my daughter and I had with both of you today you both act like you're sure you're going to get away with it. It's not even a matter of money. It's a matter of trust. It makes me wonder if the raving reviews Cloud Nine Dental has are of people who don't even notice things like these happening to them.
I appreciate my own dentist and his office staff even more now. They would never pull this and if there was ever an error made by them they'd rather take the loss than lose a good loyal client. That's what I expected of Cloud Nine Dentist. Instead I got the opposite and even worse, his staff ignored the problem they left us with as if we were invisible.

After that encounter with Rose on the phone back on 3/6/2017, I finally had some time to pick this issue back up again yesterday 3/15/2017 and today due to the snowstorm back here on the east I'm off from work. I drafted this whole letter/review and waited to see what Lisa would tell my daughter. And then after it was confirmed no one cares, I called to request that Dr, Ballard call me.

I want to send this letter to him to make sure he has all the facts to see what he thinks; To see if in fact this is how he wants his employees to conduct business at his office. I got Rose when I called, told her to have Dr, Ballard call me and she said he's with a patient and that she'd forward my message.

Today 3/16/2017,

I still haven't gotten a call from Dr. Ballard, so I decided I'd post this review on Yelp and perhaps someone would care to read it and give me reason to update it with a positive update. If not at least it'll feel good that I've educated others on how not to end up having the same negative experience as I had.

We are still satisfied with Dr Garcia's treatment and care but unfortunately, the front desk/billing care at Cloud Nine Dental needs serious improvement.

I don't expect to pay more than $410. As soon as I get a bill for that amount or less it shall get paid.

A smile is not enough and it's definitely not enough for an unhappy client.

Dr. Ballard came highly recommended by multiple family members and now I know why. He's AMAZING!!! Upon my initial new patient visit, he shared with me his background and office practices (from the dental technology he uses to the sterilization process). Dr. Ballard also educated me on the history of my teeth -- Resulting in a minor thing and by my choice cosmetic. (I've already gotten adult braces, so I was glad to hear I can make my smile even better.) So, I made my second appointment.

This visit, I highly anticipated that my mouth needed to be numb and dreaded the shot to come. I'm not one of those people who's afraid or cringes at the thought of a drill. It's the shot in my gums that hurts and the stinging of the Novocaine that makes me nervous. However, Dr. Ballard gets 10+ Stars!! I've never had such a painless shot and zen like feeling. I actually felt zen. Relieved. An Ahhhh... Feeling. I even had to get 2 shots too! (top left & right) The work was painless and at the end he reviewed & educated me (with photos) before and after.

My family was spot on with their recommendation and I too am a happy new patient of Dr. Ballard! If you're looking for a new dentist or not pleased with your current one. I HIGHLY recommend making an appointment right away.

I'd also like to note that his staff is super friendly. That's always nice to have happy people around while you're getting dental work done.

Parking Tip: You can enter the office building from SW Cirrus Drive. If you park on that side of the building you don't have to walk through the whole building.

I found Dr. Ballard by chance, my dentist was retiring so I needed to find a new one. It just so happened that Dr. Ballard was the closest dentist to my home. I have NEVER had such a great experience with any doctor. He treats all his patients as if they are his friend. He really takes the time to get to know you and understand you, and on top of that does phenomenal dental work. Dr. Ballard even called me personally days after my procedure to see how I was doing! He will be my life long dentist and friend, I recommend him highly. So happy to have found him.
