After a number of visits with a several doctors I was having difficulty finding someone trustworthy and competent. A doctor in Beverly Hills took me down the garden path and charged me for unnecessary procedures and I lost faith. Dr. Steve Yu is great. Finally found someone I trust.

I recently had to undergo a surgical procedure and I was referred to Dr. Yu by my primary care physician. When I first met with Dr. Yu, he reviewed my file and gave me a clear course of action and the ball was rolling. Within a month or so of my initial consultation I was scheduled for surgery. I found Dr. Yu and his staff to be very thorough. I was provided with information that explained my procedure as well as pre-op and post-op instructions. My procedure was a success and the hospital staff was very attentive. I would highly recommend Dr. Yu and his team for anyone looking for a OBGYN.

Dr. Yu is awesome. I went through an ordeal that, while not life threatening, was very painful and scary. Dr. Yu explained my options to me , was honest, and made me feel like like he was really listening to me. I called him several times in the weeks between my initial consult and my surgery, and he called me beck promptly, even between surgeries on what was probably his lunch break, to answer my questions and qualify my pain levels. I thought his staff was friendly and efficient also. I know they always got him my messages, and they understood my urgency. Eventually, I needed surgery after two excruciating pain episodes, and Dr. Yu performed the laparoscopic procedure. It's scary to go into surgery and have one's health in a doctor's hands. I knew I was in good hands with a caring doctor and this really helped my anxiety level. The procedure went very well, and 2 weeks later I'm healing great and immensely grateful to Dr Yu. (I had endometriosis in my ovary and Dr. Yu performed a cystectomy.)

Our experience with Dr. Steve Yu was one similar to the highly professional and competent and caring medical professionals associated with the UCLA Medical Center. I am a “woman of a certain age” and have had 4 children and OB/GYN experience at several major medical centers from the University of Michigan to UCSF over a number of years and Dr. Yu ranks with the best of them. Dr. Yu performed a hysterectomy on June 17 and I was back to work doing 8 hours of training a day by July 7.
He has a warm and caring manner without being too intrusive with his patients. My husband and I were surprised by the comments on this website and believe they are not accurate or reflective of Dr. Yu, his medical expertise or his practice.

After seeing two other gynecologists for a medical problem I have been having and receiving unclear and conflicting recommendations as to how proceed, I consulted with Dr. Yu. He understood the predicament that I was in, clearly explained the different medical viewpoints on the issue, and suggested a strategy that would rule out any potential serious causes of the problem and then pursue a sensible regimen of trying to remedy the problem by gradual alteration of my medications. He was sensitive to my concerns and totally focused on my well being, and I found his straightforward presentation of the issues and my options to be very helpful and reassuring.

It is disheartening to see the bad comments about DR. Yu. I haven't found another doctor that has ever made me half as comfortable or explained so much to me. I went in to see him heartbroken and upset, he raised those spirits and left me with hope. I love that he drew a picture, that to me shows that he cares. Cares enough to even take the time to talk to me and really explain what is going on. He even sat down and talked to me before my procedure as well as talked me through the entire thing. Then sat down with me again after. He is so sweet and actually cares. He cares! I haven't been able to say that about any other doctor. I feel like you have to only be looking for negatives in order not to like him and his staff. He is awesome and I strongly recommended him. I will never ever let another OBGYN touch me. I will travel to see Dr. Steve Yu!

I saw Dr. Yu because I was referred to him because I needed to have a very complex surgery done laparoscopically. He made me feel very comfortable. We met in his office and discussed all treatments options. He explained everything to me so that I can understand clearly. The surgery went great and now I have my life back. Dr. Yu helped me through this very difficult time in my life and always made me feel very relaxed and reassured. I recommend him to all my friends.

Dr. Yu was awful and his staff incompetent. I found him to be condescending, and short when answering questions. I asked specifically about side effects for the treatment he recommended and was told I was being silly to worry, only to have the very side effects I feared in full force. When I called to ask him questions, calls were not returned, and his nurse called me back to tell me to consult my other doctors. I also asked to have lab work sent to my other docs, which took several days and did not arrive in time for my appointments, despite me being very specific about what I needed and when. I will not be going back, and have never had such an awful experience with a doctor.

Me and my husband went to see Dr. Yu as our OBGYN, we are expecting our first baby, and it's our first experience ever, so everything is new to us. We thought we went in on a bad day, because Dr. Yu seemed so impatient and almost rude. When we did our very first ultrasound ever, he came back with all one word answers, and was going to send us to another OB to get another ultrasound for since it would be a better machine, my husband kindly asked him what the difference was, Dr. Yu's reaction was motionless "you'll see", when we heard the our babies heartbeat for the first time, it was an emotional moment, and Dr. Yu certainly made us feel uncomfortable by his short answers, his tamed energy, and it didn't help that he rushed us through the process. You will get short answers or no answers, for first time parents you probably want someone more compassionate to share your excitement. We needed up changing doctors, I can't imagine delivering with him.

I'm so glad to see that someone else wrote a good review regarding Dr. Yu because I was forced to go to him due to a lack of appointments with other physicians and an urgency for a procedure and was terrified because of the 1st two reviews on this site. I went in expecting a condescending jerk to be blatent. Instead, I found Dr. Yu to be informative, open to questions, detailed in explaining answers and the procedures. He talked me through the procedures, reassured me, and even high fived me when we were done which I thought was a funny ease of tension. His office called me before expected with results and was easy to make an appointment. The waiting time wihile in the office was also super short which, in LA, is hard to come by. I will be continuing with Dr. Yu for sure.
