Words are not enough to describe how grateful and appreciative we are to Dr. Bubrick and his team. We were hopeless and desperate by the time we connected with them. We flew 6000 miles for our last hope for our child. Their approach had a "magical effect" on our child. For the first time, she was cooperative with therapy, and positive changes were observed within days. Our happy, cheerful kid is back with us.

It's important to note that coordination, scheduling, and accommodation to our needs were amazing. I have been very happy with the service from the first email we sent until today.

Dr. Bubrick made all the difference in our son's treatment. What sets him apart as a practitioner is his direct approach. He doesn't sugar coat addressing OCD head on and navigating the challenges. Our son was a black and white thinker who could not get out of his own way with his ruminating. Dr. Bubrick laid down the treatment plan and did not coddle him. We needed a boss and we got one. Our boy is thriving now and and poised for success and happiness with his OCD in check. Dr. Bubrick remains engaged whenever we need his insight. He is a pioneer in the treatment of OCD and we are forever grateful for his guidance and support!

Dr. Bubrick saved our son, not once but twice. He understands OCD and how it manifests in children. He especially understands how to deal with it and how to help parents manage at home since this is where a child spends most of his time. We've worked with Dr B ongoing for several years (on and off) and he is the only one who was able to help us after trying so many different "experts." We are forever grateful for him and his team.

I first started working with Dr. Jerry Bubrick at the Child Mind Institute around 10/15/2014. When I started working with Dr. Bubrick, I was going through a very difficult time. I am writing this review because his work with me was very unprofessional and unethical. He initially promised to go outside with me and do all kinds of Cognitive Behavioral exposures, but he pretty much never did it except one time when he walked with me a bit down the street and then parted ways at a train underpass.
In addition, he regularly gave me less time in the sessions than the scheduled amount of time I had with him. Mind you, at the time, he charged me $1,500 for the initial consultation and $375 per session thereafter. Now he probably charges even more. In addition, I sent him a number of emails asking questions and he did not respond to them.
A fair amount of the time, Dr. Bubrick conducted himself in a very arrogant, condescending, non-empathic, judgmental and narcissistic way that is totally inappropriate for a therapist. He would on occasion make fun of me and make nasty comments. For example, during one session, he told me that I "complain like an old man" or something along those lines. In what world is a comment like that to a client appropriate?
Eventually, I ended up being transferred to a female therapist that worked under Dr. Bubrick, who was much better. However, some time after that, she said that she would be leaving. I remember her saying that she was supposed to leave at some later point down the road, by her own choice, but for some reason Dr. Bubrick got mad and terminated her right away. He then called me out of the blue after not speaking with me at all for a long time and left a message basically saying that he was very familiar with my case and wanted to continue working with me. In other words, it seems pretty obvious that most likely he just wanted to poach me back so that I would continue to be his client and pay him and not go off with the female therapist to her new practice. I ended up going with the female therapist to her new practice and she told me that she did not want to work for a place like Child Mind Institute because she said that they care more about making money than actually helping clients.
In addition, these things do not seem to be just my experience. If you do an online search for reviews of Dr. Jerry Bubrick, you will see that there are many negative reviews that echo many of the things that I am writing here. He does have knowledge of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) but he didn't seem to make much of an effort in using it with me and he did not seem to differ greatly in this knowledge from other therapists who probably charge a lot less. In either case, in my view all of the negative things I mentioned far outweigh the positive of his having knowledge in CBT. It seems to me that Dr. Bubrick has a fair number of his own personality issues that he would maybe benefit with working with a specialist on. In either case, going by my experience, which I described earlier, Dr. Bubrick acted and most likely continues to act in very unprofessional and unethical ways. This should not be how a therapist operates. In my view, someone who acts like that should not even be allowed to practice as a therapist.

I was truly grateful that Dr. Bubrick listened to what I had to say and got to the heart of the problem. My daughter is doing so much better thanks to his direction and I highly recommend him especially if you haven’t found answers from other doctors.

While I'm sad for those who commented below, we had a COMPLETELY different experience with Dr. J. My son was also in crisis mode, we live in Canada and we had tried EVERYTHING and EVERYONE. Dr. J did "quarterback" our therapy and aligned us with the perfect team . I frankly have my son back. We still touch base frequently to get advice and to check in. Re money-I never felt like there was a "cash grab" as CMI is mostly a non-profit and if what we paid helped others who couldn't afford help, then I'm glad we could contribute and in doing so saved my son and our family.

Dr. Bubrick was a HUGE disappointment. Do NOT trust your child with him.
I am outraged that the CHILD MIND Institute continues to let him practice.
I trusted him and he was absolutely terrible in everywhere. I'm sure at one point he was dedicated and compassionate, but something has changed. Maybe Dr. Bubrick needs to take time off. EVERYTHING about our experience was AWFUL!!!!!

Reading these comments about how Dr. Bubrick cares more about money than actually helping the child in need -- never truer words spoken! I engage Dr. Bubrick to help us get our son in therapy. Instead of going that route, he insisted upon doing "parenting work" with us. Time was of the essence since our family was in crisis. We had just sent one of our twins away for 3 months (since he did not feel safe living in our home due to his brother's severe anxiety) in order to triage the situation at home. I begged him to read the neuropsychs and speak to our son's psychiatrist and family therapist but he refused and said "I would need to get one of my people to read it and take notes since I don't have the time," I told him that if we didn't have my son in treatment by the time his brother came home, my husband and I would need to separate since our kids could not live in the same home safely. Did he help us get our son in treatment? No, He kept insisting that he needed to work with us (as the bills mounted). He also outright accused me of wanting to "send him away" (instead of understanding that I love my son and want him to get help so our family could stay together. He also yelled at me in the sessions with my husband and told us he was the "quarterback" of our family team and we needed to listen to him. After 3 months, he still hadn't read the neuropsych, spoken to our son's psychiatrist , nor the family therapist. Now our family is living apart. I so regret sticking with this mother-blaming, hostile, ego-driven, arrogant clinician who clearly cared more about money that working in partnership with our family and the mental health team we had in place,.
