Biography
Dr. Goodale grew up in the Portland area with a passion to explore the mental and emotional aspects of health at an early age. Raised in an athletic family of competitive swimmers, health and fitness became a natural part of daily existence. Wanting to combine these interests, Dr. Goodale originally thought to pursue a career as a sports psychologist. Training and experiences, however, has expanded her desire to work with the mind-body connection through a health psychology model. Staying true to her roots, Dr. Goodale attended undergraduate school at Oregon State University and obtained her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Pacific University in 2005. As a licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Goodale has enjoyed working with people to explore health promotion and illness prevention by reflecting on how the psychological and emotional aspects can impact physical health and symptoms. Dr. Goodale remains passionate about helping others pursue positive changes towards greater health. She has experience working with pain management, weight management, smoking cessation, adjustment to medical conditions, stress/anxiety, PTSD, depression, and a host of other factors impacting a person’s quality of life. Dr. Goodale uses an integrative approach to therapy, which allows for flexibility to adapt the treatment to fit each individual patient’s needs. She has a strong background in cognitive behavioral therapy, which is often a preferred therapeutic approach in the treatment of various health conditions. Other treatment methods may include insight oriented therapy, solution focused approaches, or acceptance and commitment therapy. Dr. Goodale has several years of experience working with adults of all ages and adolescents 16+ in their pursuit for healthier lifestyles and positive changes. She has worked with men and women from various backgrounds and cultures in both individual and group settings. In her personal time, Dr. Goodale continues to pursue her own well-being with attempts to balance work with leisure interests such as marathon running, training for the next triathlon, baking, socializing with family and friends, and watching her children in their sports endeavors. Mission Statement: “I strive to help each patient find their own path towards health and wellness in a supportive and collaborative environment. My goal is to empower each person to make positive changes, whether they be physical, emotional, mental, social, or behavioral.”
