I drive over 200 miles each way to see this doctor because he is that good of a clinician and importantly he's a good man to boot. He is rational, thorough, and is a very good active listener but he is unique ime because for all of his years of experience and vast knowledge of all rheumatalogical/musculoskeletal diseases, he is still open-minded and considerate regarding what is best for my unusual condition. He is not jaded by years in practice, he clearly loves his work and does not rush visits, Dr. Goldstein does not process patients but is rather patient, considerate and kind...very intelligent but with zero ego or pretense. I am very fortunate to have such a man as my rheumatologist and recommend him without the slightest reservation. A rare find is he.

I used to have to wait about an hour to see the doctor. But during the past six months things have changed. Nth longest I have waited has been 10 minutes. Doctor Goldstein is the best doctor I have seen in over 10 years.nnhe listens to your problems then you and him decides the best solutions. I moved out of the Rea over a year ago and still travel back every 3 months to see him. As long as I can keep driving up to Northern Virginia I will be seeing him.

Reading all the reviews below is shocking to me. Maybe he has new staff or things have changed in his office because I have seen him for a few months now regularly (about 6 appointments so far) and I have not experienced what I have read below. This doctor's office is great. Dr. Goldstein is wonderful and makes every visit very comfortable. The front desk staff is always pleasant and welcoming as well. I had been to many doctors before I found him and he helped me right away. I can tell he has been doing this for a long time because he was able to help me during the first few minutes he met me when I had been to so many doctors and specialist before him and they could not figure out what was wrong. I am grateful that I found Dr. Goldstein because he has helped me manage my pain and there is no better feeling than that. If I would have read these reviews before calling I most likely would not have bothered seeing him.

If your are looking for a doctor who will listen to what you are saying and treat your symptoms as a reality and not regard you as a hysterical psychosomatic all in your head victim, Than Doctor Alben Goldstein is your doctor. . You can leave your husband behind when visiting Doctor Goldstein. He treats you as a person not as a woman in need of an interpreter. Doctor Golstein is not one to quickly write a prescription to get to the next patient. If your looking for a treatment plan to decrease some of your challenges of life with your disorder, than he is your man. Unlike many doctors who promise miracles, Doctor Goldstein is realistic and strives to focus on the symptoms that are the hardest to live with and work from there. In other words he is not going to load you up on pain meds and send you away for another month

Rude staff hung up on me referring me to "pain management center" stating I was not eligible for diagnosis. Why? NP at my GP gave me codeine for acute B19 parvovirus/RA/perhaps Lupus-first time.Discrimination for pain management? Barbaric. Also, B19 virus in immuno-compromised patients is a subject of study in greater places like Johns Hopkins and NIH. When someone is suspected to have Lupus, they need to be seen immediately and this office made me feel dejected and hopeless.

I'm so glad I read these reviews because nothing upsets me more than dealing with rude staff. I made an apointment on the phone and the lady was rather curt when answering questions I had. Thank you for the reviews because I just cancelled my appointment :)

I went to see him because my RA came positive and my PCP recommended. Horrible experience both with Doctor and his staff. Second visit ruined my whole day. First of all had to wait one and half hour for my turn, then they lost my blood work report. He asked me how much pain I have, I explained to him and he said he can not do anytthing leaning toward his chair behind big old mahogany table. He did bother to see and touch on my hurtful joints. After insisting that I have read everywhere that early treatment of RA is better than waiting for long time. He prescribe me Plaquenil say that I think I have RA. He is not sure. Making long story short, he does not have adequate medical professionalism. I am snot going back and not would recommend any body.
