I have the kind of chronic headaches that drive doctors insane... nothing seems to help except the stuff, i.e., opiates, they really, really hate giving out to a 'regular.' Dr. Elwell, while refusing to give me the one thing I KNOW works, gave me valid and patient reasons for that refusal, and listened intently to my symptoms... more than that, he VALIDATED my pain, and did his best to try a combination he thought might work. It didn't, but that doesn't stop me from thinking very highly of him. After twenty years of migraines, clusters and TN, I'm quite used to being admonished by frustrated physicians for being a drug seeker or an 'emotional, high-strung' woman who exaggerates my pain. Dr. Elwell did neither, and for that I salute him.
