Went in for an extraction. Dr. Karam and staff were absolutely Top Notch. She was extremely professional, caring and genuinely sympathetic to my condition. This was one of the few times that I have felt comfortable in a dental exam room. I couldn't believe that she was done. I thank God she was my oral surgeon! She and her staff were perfect.

I treat at the VA Medical Center in Ann Arbor, and have had to teeth in my upper jaw extracted. I had the good fortune to be treated by Doctor Karam, who performed my oral surgery. She was, in all respects, excellent. She was considerate, she fully explained the procedures she performed, and she performed my surgery quickly and competently. She answered all my questions carefully and completely. I would recommend her to anyone without qualification.

After a long history of dental problems due to a systemic disease, I was terrified of seeing ANY dental doctor. I went to U of M dental school for help. Dr. Karam was the director of the undergrad surgery clinic at that time. She took over my case, did research into the disease I had (RSD) and learned how to best extract my diseased teeth without worsening my overall condition. I found her incredibly helpful, intelligent, empathic, creative and compassionate. I can honestly say that although the extractions she performed were complicated & difficult, she performed them with ease, confidence & painlessly! While at the clinic I experienced a medical emergency requiring transport to ER. When I became alert I learned she had handled the emergency extremely well, without panic & with outstanding competence. Although I awoke terrified terrified& confused, she was quickly able to calm & reassure me. Ultimately, I was (unfortunately) transferred to the Hospital Dental program because of what U of M determined was a complicated medical situation, making Dental treatment "risky" outside of a hospital environment (although Dr. Karem had no difficulties). Once there, I was unable to continue treatment due to U of M demanding $10,000 cash (non-covered by any insurance), upfront, to have an anesthesiologist "stand-by" while the remaining extractions were performed. It is now 8 years later & what remains of my diseased teeth continues to disintegrate. Dr. Lina Karam was an OUTSTANDING surgeon in an otherwise disappointing and frightening University Dental system. I am sure she is just as amazing as a contributor to the practice she is currently a member of. There are not enough words of praise and thanks that I could offer her or say about her OUTSTANDING abilities. Although I remain terrified of any other dental surgeon, I have total & complete confidence in her skills. I would not hesitate to have her perform any oral surgery needed. I can say, unequivocally, that I would (& did) place my life in her expert surgical hands.

I consulted with Dr. Karam about my wisdom teeth. She was very nice and was very knowledgeable about how she would carry out my case. Sadly, I couldn't afford what the office charged for wisdom teeth extraction - it is quite high especially if you didn't have insurance.
