To understand my review, I must inform you, reader, that I was a very difficult patient and that because I was a difficult patient, I was kicked out of five consecutive practices due to my temperament and behavior. Some of whom are well respected by their peers.
But despite giving Dr. Steingraber numerous reasons to kick me out of her practice, reasons that got me kicked out of previous practices, she didn't. Instead, with a patience and respect that I cannot possibly describe, she did her best to help me as best she could, conjuring a level of diligence and compassion I have never experienced among others.
Where others gave up, under less pressure and in a matter of weeks, she endured outright abuse for the better part of a year. Where other therapists cursed, threatened and screamed back, Dr. Steingraber tried to calm me down and help.
And even though I had even gone so far as written malicious reviews out of spite, reviews she was well aware were from me, she didn't throw me out, she didn't retaliate, she didn't let it effect her or me. (It's the three star December 11th, 2013 on this very website)
Dr. Steingraber is not perfect and let me dispel any insinuation that she is a perfect. But the yawning difference of experiences between Dr. Steingraber and her contemporary psychologists are clear:
Others threw me out in a matter of weeks, some of them doing so in the most disrespectful and threatening manner.
Dr. Steingraber worked through my difficult behavior for nearly a year, all the while maintaining a level of professionalism, acceptance and kindness I've never experienced from anyone else in my life. Enough to change my perception of people in general.
Now that is not "nothing".
I'm still seeing her. It's been about 2 years now and she has seen me through some of the toughest times of my life. And because of that, I absolutely encourage anyone wanting counsel and help to give Dr. Steingraber a call.
