Worst experience getting an eye exam ever! A red flag should’ve been when he started to talk to me in Broken Spanish even though I was talking to him in English. I have worn contacts for over 8 years and never have I had a problem with them. The doctor gave me a pair to try out and when I mentioned the prescription didn’t feel right he sighed loudly and said “well it’s right I don’t know what you want me to do about it”
I was stunned I’ve never had a doctor talk to me like that, i wasn’t even being rude at all. I tried to explain what I was feeling but he just kept repeating that phrase over to me. In the end I mentioned my old prescription and he sighed loudly and said “let’s do that then” He had me test out the contacts and come back in two days but the office staff kept calling and pushing back my follow up appointment. In the end they made me come back and made me wait 45 minutes for a 2 minute consult for them to release my prescription. Never going back there again

If I could assign negative points, I would. This dr was over 2 hrs late to arrive in office on first attempt. I had to come back next day and once again doctor was running late over 1 hr. Only 4 chairs in seating area so it was mostly standing room only with a small crowd of patients. I will NEVER come here again. Staff was not at all helpful.

This might be my worst experience EVER with an eye doctor. I've been wearing contacts for 17 years and have never had problems with them, and my prescription has been the exact same for over a decade. Dr. Sumerlin however decided to change my prescription to contacts for astigmatism despite the fact that he only wrote down a 0.5 astigmatism for each eye. On my second visit, I mentioned that the contacts seemed to move a lot and blur but he assured me that that was perfectly normal. I still had no idea they were lenses for astigmatism. Then I called the next day to ask what kind of lenses I was wearing because they were giving me headaches and making me nauseous with the constant double vision caused by the blurring. Again, the staff said I just needed to blink a lot and maybe use eye drops. I asked if I could see the doctor about getting a different lense. They mentioned that my doctor would be out until next week and I shouldn't see the other doctor because he might give me a completely different prescription. How that is even possible or seems like something a staff should think is normal is beyond me. I came back the following week when they told me and Dr. Sumerlin was not in due to "an emergency." Additionally, the other doctor was not in either. I asked to make an appointment later in the day since I was in a hurry but could not go on with the pain the other contacts were causing me and was told to just come in because it was walk in only, but also the Dr. would only be in for an hour. I had to wait 40 minutes to see the doctor even though I'd already had an exam. I should also mention that it is commonly known that astigmatisms below 0.6 do not benefit from contact lenses made for astigmatism. The second Dr. didn't seem to understand why I was given those lenses either. By far the most stressful experience I've ever had with contacts.

Ridiculous "policies" when it comes to using insurance and having to pay for a trial pair in order for staff to release prescription

WORSE OFFICE STAFF EVER. They make a mistake and not place order and then refuse to refund the full amount they charged for contacts. Wanted to charge for the trial pair they gave him. THEY ARE THE WORST!

Possibly one of the worse eye doctors I have ever been to visit. The assistant did 99 percent of the test.

Very thorough Dr. They checked for glaucoma and visual fields. Dr. Sumerlin dilated my eyes and was thoroughly concerned with my symptoms. He did a thorough differential diagnosis. I would not hesitate to recommend and I have been seeing eye Drs for over 40 years.
