Terrible experience with Dr. Shilpi Mehta-Li.

I understand that she is looking out for the healthy pregnancy, healthy baby, healthy mother. But the way she expresses or wants to express her views comes out very authoritatively in her voice, her attitude is my way or highway, due to which the patient may become defensive. She wants to pin-point to the patient all the wrong things the patient has done even after improving their blood sugar numbers. Does not give suggestions on how to improve to make good changes.

There are some Dr.'s who want to improve the health of the patient by making changes in their diet, but in my opinion, Dr. Mehta-Lee believes in medication only, as the medication is the only way of improvement in health.

Asked me what I liked to eat, I told her everything except Meat, Dr. Mehta - Lee counter question was "I did not ask you what you DO NOT like to eat but what you want to eat"

Terrible experience with this Doctor. After she told me my diagnosis, I asked her what it meant and she told me "Well what did you doctor say?". I did not appreciate that at all.

Dr. Shilpi Mehta-Lee is very friendly, courteous, and easy to talk to. She keeps excellent track of her patients' pregnancy progress and her practice includes other doctors who can deliver the baby in case she is away or not available on the day of labor. The staff at her clinic is also surprisingly pleasant and professional (unusual these days). Only one concern we've had is this nagging question whether all these medical procedures are done as much for billing as for medical reasons. NYU is known for charging for medical care piecemeal, so the total adds up to more.
