Dr Balestri is a world class psychologist with a wealth of knowledge on cluster B personalities. He has been a life saver in helping me navigate how to parent an adult child with severe BPD, and his advice is both practical and compassionate. I highly recommend him.

I saw Dr Balestri for 5 and a half months for a dissociative disorder and childhood trauma. I have stopped seeing him because I felt that he was overly critical and dismissive. When I raised this issue, he told me that criticizing me was part of my treatment, and then he corrected himself by saying, what I perceive as criticism. Because he told me that I am very sensitive and perhaps I have issues with him because he is male. I had a similar issue when I pointed out to him that he was running 5-10 minutes late for every session chatting with the client before me while my sessions were always ended early or exactly on time. He was dismissive and downplayed it (saying it was only 2-3) and tried to make me out as being unreasonable. Maybe his approach works for others but not for me.

I have been Dr. Balestri's client for the past six years. I began seeing him a month after my 25th birthday. I came to Dr. Balestri in need of therapy after a very rocky and tumultuous childhood. Since becoming one of Dr. Balestri's clients , I have made great strides in many aspects of my life. He is a very fair, honest, and straightforward man and he brings those traits to his practice. When I leave the office feeling better I know that Dr. Balestri is helping me. Sometimes, when I leave his office and feel drained or uneasy, I know that he helped me more than usual and I know I am doing the work I need to do with his ever present honest and professional guidance. He always keeps me honest and on my toes. It is a pleasure being a client of Dr. Balestri.
