The office is beautiful. The front desk staff were AMAZING! But I would not recommend Dr Windley to anyone for a root canal.

It started out well with him answering a few questions. I told him I was a little nervous and he seemed irritated that I wasn't given a med before hand to help with anxiety. I've never had that before; I'm wasn't out-of-control nervous.
When he gave me my 2nd or 3rd shot, I made a small noise bc it felt like the shot went directly into a nerve. He VERY firmly told me, "YOU are going to have to calm down!" I've never had a medical professional talk down to me like this. I felt belittled and like a bother.
During the procedure, my jaw began to cramp bc I have TMJ issues. When I told him about it, he was very irritated and replied, "What do you want me to do about it? What do you want? We are only 40% finished. What would you like?" I felt like I was in trouble for having a jaw that was cramping up. It is a very vulnerable place to be when you are in the middle of a big procedure, in pain, just praying your jaw doesn't completely lock down. I felt so helpless, angry, and just couldn't understand why he was being so rude to me.
When the procedure was finished, he wanted to shake my hand and wish me good luck. I was so upset that the minute I got into my car, I broke into a terrible cry. I have never been treated like that before in a dental chair.
I have had 2 more root canals with Dr Henry Hancock in Raleigh. My experience with Hancock was completely different. He was very calming, he listened to me, no pain from his shots, he dental work is excellent, and he was sympathetic to my TMJ issue. He even offered to massage my jaw if it started to spasm. Why pay almost $2000 to an endodontist that treats you badly when you can get good work by someone who treats you like a real person. I have asked my regular dentist to please stop referring his patients to Dr Windley.

Facility is beautiful and office staff is wonderful. Scheduling went well once we were able to reach the office, no complaints there. As nice as the facility is one would expect paperless on-line file upload capability but don't ask the tech side is a bit behind the times. As nice as the office staff is the endo himself is puffy and preachy and does not listen. He has his training and is very proud of it. While I expected a painless procedure I was told to simply raise my hand if I felt pain. Unfortunately I did feel some pain but when I raised my hand he said oh you hurt you feel pain and U of course responded yes; so far so good. But then he said "that's ok". I said no, it wasn't ok and as he started up again and I could feel pain now with each move I shook my hand and said it again no it is not ok it hurts, but he did not listen and proceeded to cause more pain. For the first time for me in a dental procedure I had tears streaming down my face, and pain intensified so bad I grabbed the sides of my head. He seemed to be rather pleased with himself and continued causing pain and eventually, when he finally removed his fingers, I couldn't contain it any longer and broke down into an outright cry. At this point the assistant removed the utensils from my mouth so I could talk. Of course I explained the pain and dissatisfaction that he wasn't listening, fortunately we were almost done. After the procedure the endo added insult to injury by saying I hadn't indicated I had any pain - really, you have to be just ignorant not to see that. Obviously, not a good experience here for me and I will not be returning for the second. Too bad because I think the office staff is above par but I think it is important that the endo pay attention and listen to his patient.

High recommendation for Dr. Windley and his staff at Cary Endodontics.. From the start, I was treated with the most responsive care- from fast scheduling for a root canal emergency (original was performed by a different doctor), to multiple procedures within 3 weeks, aimed at abating a serious infection and finally an apioectomy surgery to resolve the main problem. Everyone on his staff helped create an atmosphere of calm and competence; everything from scheduling to followup calls and insurance handling was extremely well handled. Dr. Windley's expertise and calm confidence put me completely at ease, and even without anxiety drugs or sedation I was able to tolerate the root canals and surgery. He is the most skilled doctor I have ever had in administering anesthetics to the tooth. I felt almost nothing with the shots, and no pain whatsoever during the procedures. I give this practice a 5 star rating out of 5. If you need endodontics care, this is definitely the place to go.
