Dr. Black is an outstanding Dr. 2nd to None. He's extremely knowledgeable. Far superior to most. He's very up to date on current medical trends. I do agree with former poster. At times, it's difficult to understand exactly what and why he's doing the testing he's doing. He's not always very communicative. With him, you have to ask questions/dig vs. him communicating the what/why. Which for most people is fine, but for me, I want to know the "why" a Doctor is choosing this clinical path.

Unfortunately, his staff is THE WORST you'll ever deal with. Think of the most "Surly" experience you've have with a "Service" oriented person. This will top it.

It's inexcusable/unacceptable for his front office staff to be this way as Dr. Black is a very "kind"/"compassionate"/"good nature" person. I'm sure he treats his staff well as his "bed side" demeanor would predict. They PA's are impossible to reach and *NEVER* return calls. All in all, if you want a SUPERIOR Doctor, but don't mind dealing with the hassle of an uncooperative front office. He is your guy. I still high recommend him.

Dr. Black is very intelligent, however it's difficult to understand what he is doing and why. They use paper charts and can ever find my current medications or recent labs. His staff are the worst I've ever experienced. The lady who signs you in and takes the copay is nice, but the other lady you see on the way out is consistently rude. His clinical staff are friendly, but sadly they are clueless. They are very hard to reach if you leave a message with a question. Rarely do I get a call back from his clinical staff. They have a strict cancellation policy if you don't cancel or reschedule within 24 hours. They will charge you $50 if you move your appointment outside that window regardless of the reason.

Dr. Black was my thyroid specialist for 5 months until I changed to different doctor due to my experience with him. At first Dr. Black said that I needed a blood test. Unfortunately, I had to have my blood drawn twice because the paperwork and results from my first blood test were lost. After a thyroid biopsy, Dr. Black recommended that I have a core biopsy from the hospital. However, the hospital doctors decided a core biopsy is dangerous for my thyroid so they did not recommend it. The hospital notified the cancellation of my core biopsy (which is outpatient surgery) to Dr. Black, however Dr. Black did not notify me...so I assumed that he really thought it was necessary. I ended up wasting my entire morning waiting at the hospital for the core biopsy procedure. Funny thing was he sent the day surgery cancellation letter AFTER the actual surgery date. At this point, I realized it could be hazardous to my health to depend on Dr. Black so I visited my primary care physician requesting a new recommendation for a thyroid specialist. Now I'm seeing Dr. Flood and am very happy with him.
I'd also like to mention that Dr. Black's staff that I interacted with was very rude and unprofessional. In all my experiences with doctors, Dr. Judson Black and his staff were the worst I've ever encountered.

Awful! I went to see Dr. Black because i am with a hair loss and he prescribed me a blood test to check my thyroid. Took 10 days to receive the result. After calling many times someone finally told they have my results. Went to see him and he told me that I need to do a Cortrysyn Stim Test. Took 2 weeks from someone in his office send the order to the Northside Hospital lab. When I called Northside the next available time was in one week. Did the blood work, another 14 days pass. Finally got the results back because I was calling... scheduled my appointment the same day. When I saw Dr. Black he tells me that the lab at the Northside didn't do 2 of the required blood test, you can imagine my frustations. This week is the 2nd week since I saw him and no one has call me to reschedule my test that they messed up. Called again today and nothing. I give up! He doesn't trust his team. He does everything and takes forever to have things done. Scheduled appointment with another doctor. I will be bald if I keep waiting for this doctor.

While I do like Dr. Black, I agree that his staff is does not have basic patient skills. It's almost impossible to get someone to talk to you and they will cut you off several times and then you get a recording for the nurse.

First and foremost, Dr. Black's office staff are above and beyond, the WORST that you will ever encounter in the medical office. You will read this upon the majority of reviews regarding him. He would have much better reviews if he fired his entire staff and replaced them with individuals that cared. The front desk lady that schedules follow up visits is extremely rude and unhelpful, and probably the worst of the group in terms of service (the lady that you sign in with is rather nice, and I have always had pleasant experiences with her. His two nurses are clueless and will take an eternity to get back with your lab results or address follow up calls/questions. Dr. Black is very charming and helpful upon first meeting him, but will quickly discard you and brush you to the side after he has ran his numerous expensive tests (whereas previous patients have stated he makes his money from). Also, if he's unable to get you approved for his preferred medication treatment (where he makes a large portion of his money), then see the latter. At first I truly believed that Dr. Black cared about getting me better, but now realize that he just performs these elaborate tests and labs to rake in cash from your insurance provider, and then discards you once there are no more tests to run, even if your condition has not improved. There are MUCH better endocrinologists in GA, just do some research. Stay away from this office, you will waste plenty of money and be kicking yourself down the road.

I met Dr. Black while having a heart bypass, mostly in ICU. He managed my diabetes and investigated a condition of hyperparathyroidism. I have seen him several times since that two week period in the office. I appreciate being seen promptly, his neat and comfortable waiting area, and the helpfulness of his staff. Dr. Black came highly recommended, by my cardiologist, himself consistently rated nationally in the top 100 doctors. Dr. Black is kind and courteous, thorough, and unrushed. He has a sense of humor while quietly investigating the case, and is a very personable individual. I like that he hears what you say the first time, and am very satisfied with my care in his practice. Labs can be done in one day by going to the third floor lab, if desired and I like this. I would highly recommend Dr. Black for any endocrine problem presented. I like it that he has practiced at Mayo Clinic and several other nationally known university hospitals.

Dr Black is the BEST endocrinologist in Georgia. He thinks outside the box and will give you the care you need, not what the insurance of hospital thinks. He probably saved my life, while other doctors thought is was all my head. He has a great staff that cares about the people, especially Toni. I wouldn't give Dr. Black up for millions of younger doctors. I don't know what we will do without Dr. Black in this world. IMO, he is a genius and can outperform any doctor. I've been to many endocrinologist who had no clue what they were doing and he would not stop until he got to the root cause of the issue. Thank God for Dr Judson Black. If you want a doctor who will not stop until they find the issue it is Dr. Black
