Great therapist! Judy is thoughtful and kind with a good sense of humor. I found her to be very compassionate during my visits with her. She was very helpful during some difficult periods in my life.

I cannot imagine how somebody so angry could think she could imitate a good therapist. It's quite clear she's unable to manage her own anger, let alone help a stranger with her or his problems. There are many therapists in Ithaca, good therapists. However, Judy is not.

I had an awful experience with Judy. I saw her for 9 months and should have found someone else around month 2. At times she was not very empathic and often seemed to be quite distant. It was difficult to feel comfortable and develop a rapport. I often felt like she was just sitting there staring at me while I talked, without really hearing or connecting to what I was saying.

It's curious to note that there's more than one of positive review
on Raabe which all begin with almost identical wording....As if the same author is writing more than one review. Not dissimilar to "stacking the deck" in a card game.
HMMM, I suspect some professional courtesy going on here?

I couldn't have been more disappointed in Ms. Raabe. I found her to be angry, distant, and extremely arrogant. Many times, I would get this feeling that she had some kind of "unpleasant program running in the background" . Particularly when I would make a statement or express an opinion and she just would not respond. It so strange, as if she possessed a thousand yard stare of her own making.
It was an odd mix; her distance and coy manner.
It was terribly frustrating, and I hung on much longer than I should have, secretly hoping she would "warm up" in some fashion so that the time I had already invested wouldn't be completely wasted. But it was a futile hope. I should have known better. There was an anger that I sensed right at the start; but hoped it wasn't so deep rooted that I wasn't "pounding money down a rat hole" as the old saying goes. Finally, when I tried to push for more of a response to what I was describing, she made it very clear that she "knew what she was doing" . It took me a long time to roust up the courage to seek help elsewhere.

Dr. Judy Raabe is an extremely smart, skilled, caring, thoughtful, and dedicated therapist. I am a Clinical Psychologist who has been practicing in Ithaca for over 10 years. For the past 6-7 years, I have participated in a professional peer consultation group with Dr. Raabe and several other highly respected therapists in town.

Through the years of participating in these professional groups with Dr. Raabe, I have come to know her clinical work well. I am continually impressed with her depth of knowledge and experience, her insightfulness about her clients and ours, her tremendous caring and empathy, her ability to be both gentle and gently challenging, and her facility in using both active/ directive therapeutic strategies as well as more receptive/exploratory strategies, depending on her clients’ needs.

When my caseload is full and I need to make a referral, Dr. Raabe is the first name I give. I know that Dr. Raabe will provide excellent care and that any client who works with her will be in highly skilled, caring, wise, and impeccably ethical hands.

Dr Raabe is extremely professional, caring and competent. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a good therapist. I am also a healthcare provider and refer people to her regularly because I am confident in the care that she provides.

I had a VERY positive experience with Dr. Raabe. She was always attentive and did a fantastic job of remembering details from appointment to appointment. I genuinely looked forward to our sessions and I never felt that she was judging me. She helped me work through a tough time in my life and I recommend her highly.

Save yourself some time. Judy Raabe is an extremely sub-par psychologist. She's often distracted, seems stressed out, and doesn't remember things from one appointment to the next.
