I needed a biopsy done on the front portion of my tongue. Holmgren performed the procedure. After removing the tissue, he used dissolving sutures to close the wound. These were plastic-like and unwound before I got home. I had to return and be re-sutured with regular sutures. After my tongue healed I went back to have the sutures removed. The tip of my tongue was without feeling, and Holmgren assured me that was normal and sensation would return. It did not, so I went to my regular doctor and after looking at the lab results told me that Holmgren had taken 10 times the amount of tissue required for the biopsy, and had cut into my tongue deep enough that a nerve had been severed. I returned to Holmgren and told him what my regular doctor had said. He responded that my doctor was not an oral expert, and that in any event, it was my fault because I had pulled out the first set of stitches. 6 years later & the damage is permanent. For me, Holmgren was incompetent, and he lied.
