If you need a total hip arthroplasty (hip replacement), I highly recommend Dr John Maltry and his very helpful and competent staff! He was the fourth surgeon I saw before making my decision to actually have the surgery and which surgeon. The surgery went eneventfully and he and his PA, Kim MnKnurlin, were very supportive of requesting as much physical therapy I thought I needed (do what you can before and definitely take advantage after). I am about to see him for my 4 year post-op visit with zero complications. When the other hip goes and when this one needs a new liner, I will not hesitate to request Dr Maltry again.

I did a lot of research on drs before my surgeries. I asked around & actually found a couple people who'd chosen Dr Maltry as their surgeon of choice, they had good things to say about him. His consultation is about 15 minutes, wish it was a bit longer. He & his staff were absolutely fabulous!! The staff at NW Med Ctr were great as well. I went through 2 knee replacements with him but surgeries were 5 wks apart. Got off the walker fairly quickly in about 2 1/2 wks. No info out there about people my age (48) having knee replacements, so I wanted to put my rating on this site to help someone else w/a decision about surgeons. So far so good. Still stiff from the 2nd surgery & minor swelling. Had end stage OA, I feel like I have a new outlook for my life!!

Actually, I have HealthNet Medicare Advantage Plan and the amount shown was the hospitalization co-pay for each of my two total knee replacement surgeries. Dr. Maltry's staff are kind, knowledgeable, and extremely competent. I am now 14 months post-op the first knee surgery and 9 months post-op the second total knee replacement. Both surgeries were highly successful and I can walk with ease, totally pain-free. He is very very talented; I had no complications with either surgery. I was kept as pain-free as possible in the hospital and kept on antibiotics for 24 hours post-op. Anti-clotting injections were used to preclude any problems with embolisms -- somewhat common after joint replacement surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Maltry! His physicians assistant, Kim, is so far above her peers that I feel she is the next most valuable member of her the team.

Dr. Maltry and his staff are obviously devoted to the care and comfort of his patients; they are organized and informative, friendly and take the time to answer all questions. He is extremely considerate, knowledgeable and a very good surgeon. I had a total knee replacement, had no complications, was kept medicated immediately post surgery with antibiotics, anti-clot medications and pain medications and was off the walker in three weeks, had full range of motion within six weeks and am walking normally within seven weeks. I am anxiously awaiting surgery on the other knee. Recovery pain was kept to a minimum; recovery information and rehabilitation was superb. This surgeon and his staff are the very best I have ever encountered.
