Dr. Hoekema did a total knee replacement on my right knee . I can't say enough good things about this man. He was kind, personable and smiled a lot. I'm an 84 year old woman who was nervous about the procedure but was made to feel I mattered and felt comfortable with him in charge. I'd recommend him to anybody.

Made my neck worse! He ignored my complaints of much worse pain after surgery for a multi level fusion and laminectomy and went to another surgeon this one a neurosurgeon that found loose screws and failed fusion. He ignored me and put me in so much worse pain.

I am a retired cop with 30 years of service. I definitely got a bit beat up on the job.

Over the last two years I have had severe back pain and atrophy in my right leg, with numbness all the way to my foot and into my groin. I was told by an anesthesiologist treating me nerves in my lower back are being compressed. He did not say how.

I have done PT, yoga and injections to no avail. I don't smoke, I am not overweight and I am in good shape otherwise. That said, my condition has progressively worsened.

I was referred to Dr. Hoekema by the doctor who gave me injections in my back. As it turns out, Hoekema does not see people until he sees an MRI, even with a doctor's referral. I sent him the MRI I had just gotten.

After waiting weeks, my Primary Care Physician contacted me and told me Hoekema would not see me because he did not think he could do anything for me. I got no consultation, no physical eval and most importantly...no explanation of what exactly is going on with my back and what to expect as I move forward.

This is not my first rodeo when it comes to back issue back issues. I have been to three orthopedic surgeons over the years. They each examined me, reviewed MRIs with me, told me what the mechanical issues were and gave me their diagnosis and recommendations. Two times I avoided surgery and one I did not.

Reviews of Hoekema make it seem like he is a bit hard to deal with. Heck....the doctor who referred me implied as much but thought because of my law enforcement background I could handle him. My experience (or lack thereof) with the good doctor does not do anything to contradict that. Frankly, someone needs to remind the good doctor he exists to care for patients.

Shame on Peace Health for taking "care" out of Healthcare and thank you UW Med for giving me an appointment with a surgeon in a timely manner. Maybe I don't need surgery....maybe I do, but I expect the doctor there will tell me what exactly is going on with my back and recommend a path forward instead of just blowing me off.

I would not recommend Dr. Hoekema to my worst enemy. He is very rude and unhelpful. I believe he is biased against anyone who is old, overweight or has any undesirable lifestyle habits. He doesn't need to make anyone feel bad, he can make referrals and leave his patients with some hope instead feeling worse than they already do. Maybe he should go to work for Bill Gates in his search for the perfect world.

First office visit to go over MRI with Dr. 15 min visit. Verbally Abusive Immediately. Shocking as I have worked in Heathcare for 20+ years and never witnessed or experienced this before. Made errors in my chart. I would recommend Peace Health does something about this. Is this how you want your Patients treated?. Patients deserve to be treated with respect and kindness. This was appalling. There is no excuse for this behavior to continue. I hope PeaceHealth will take action.

He was a waste of time. Would not send a spider to him for help. I have been in pain since november and he tells me after a 2 minute visit nothing I can do take ibprophen and move on. Utterly rude.

You will get a 3 minute appointment. You will get a snap decision based of a scanty review of your record that you have no voice in. Avoid
