Was told after two surgeries my knee would degenerate anyway, despite going through the Lipogems Stem Cell treatment. Pain and function now the same as before I had any treatment at all.

Eleven years ago I tore my ACL. My Ortho Surgeon at that time chose not to repair it due to my age and because I wasn't an "athlete". As a result, I had to modify my activities to protect my unstable knee. Last fall, I re injured that knee so went to see Dr. Halbrecht. She was great and suggested that we fix it. I'm 12 weeks post op ACL reconstruction with no pain, great range of motion and am looking forward to getting back to all the activities that I once enjoyed! I would highly recommend Dr. Halbrecht to anyone in need of a great Orthopedic Surgeon!

This is my honest experience and perceptions/opinions related to that experience. Dr. Halbrecht performed an ACL revision on my knee, 8 mos. post op. a piece of hardware (scr_w) tip 16mm long was found in my knee joint. Dr. H. was defensive, stating that it could not possibly be her work. After removal by another surgeon it was apparent that is was a tibial hardware placed by Dr. H. She was unprofessional, overly confident and she lied to us when reviewing the MRI.

Dr. Joanne Halbrecht's response
In May of 2015, I performed her ACL revision after she re-tore her ACL. She had 2 prior ACL surgeries performed other surgeons. Her postoperative recovery was excellent and she returned to her active lifestyle. Roughly 9 months after surgery, she presented with swelling and catching while biking. An MRI was ordered. I obtained a verbal report from the lead radiologist. He informed me that the ACL surgery I performed was healed and the graft was intact, but the bioscr_w from her prior surgery had come loose. I called her and let her know about radiologist’s reading of her MRI. Surgery was scheduled to remove the scr_w, but she cancelled the day before. I called her and asked if there were any problems and she said “everything was fine”. It was only when I read her review that I learned that the loose scr_w was the one I had placed and that the radiologist’s reading was erroneous. Upon reviewing the literature, this is a rare occurrence and the proposed mechanism relates to the scr_w material and design rather than the surgical technique. In my 25 years of performing ACL reconstructions, I have never had this happen. I am glad that she decided to proceed with scr_w removal and that overall, the ACL revision surgery I performed was sucessful.

I was extremely satisfied with the professsional input I received from Dr.Halbrecht. After reviewing the MRI I gave her she decided that I just needed some good physical therapy and suggested and made an appointment to visit with a specialist. I had rotator cuff surgery three years ago and many months of therapy with very poor results. I actually thought I would need another shoulder surgery but Dr.H listened to me and her concern and care have given me a new outlook on life. I am a golfer and had not been able to swing a club in the last two and a half years!! Things are looking pretty darn good right now and if the weather holds I will go to the driving range this weekend. I would highly recommend Dr. Halbrecht to anyone looking for an outstanding surgeon.

I went to Dr. Halbrecht after going to a different Dr. in Denver for my shoulder. What a huge difference! The Denver office was huge and was moving people in an out like a shoulder factory. I never saw the Dr, only a PA and his diagnosis was "you probably have a torn labrum". Sent me off for an MRI and nothing was found. He gave me a shot in the shoulder and it took the edge off. I brought my MRI and X-Rays to Dr. Halbrecht and she immediately diagnosed it by looking at the MRI and X-Rays with me. She gave me a steroid shot that took away 100% of the pain and immediately got me on a PT regimen that hopefully will resolve my issues. Way more personal, way smaller/family feel, much better experience. I like her!
