Terrible bedside manner. Rude, smug, should never have become a doctor if he doesn't like dealing with sick, vulnerable people.

I went to Hoga's emergency room in Irvine with blurry vision in one eye as a result of a thorn hit on a tree going into my eye, and assumed it had punctured my cornea. I registered at 5:31 p.m. and left at 7:00 p.m. after being seen by a person who said he was an assistant. He did not identify himself, and when I asked to be seen by an opthamologist or a doctor, he said no one was available. He tried to examine my eye, but didn't know how to plug in the equipment or even how to turn it on. After going back and forth many times, a nurse finally came in the plugged in the equipment so he could look at my eye. They prescribed a small tube of ointment. I was so concerned that I made an appointment with an opthamologist to get my eye checked out. Imagine my surprise when two months later I got a bill for examination by Dr. Albert S. Jin and an additional charge if $65 for after hours (10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.) treatment. I am going to call my insurance company to see if they were even contacted by the doctor and plan to dispute the charges. If your cornea is punctured and you have very blurry vision, I expect anyone would want to be seen by a physician at the very least. The total charge was $338.42. Per Hoag Hospital billing, it is possible that this physician is not covered by my insurance plan. Since they have my insurance information in their computer, I asked why they didn't contact a doctor on call who accepts my insurance. No answer. My insurance has a low co-pay when I go to their emergency room. Apparently Dr. Jin wants to charge for a visit - his name is listed on the bill as the attending physician - but he didn't want to be bothered to come in to attend to me. Rip-off alert!!!

Do not see Dr. Albert S. Chin! You deserve better. He works Laguna Beach Mission Emergency and Hoag Hospital's Irvine Emergency room. This guy is a San Diego graduate (avg school)and he has this rude, inflated ego. A nurse on staff told me nobody respected him after I mentioned my experience. This doctor is cold, makes you feel like your in a cheap fast food drive thru. He is just as unpleasant on the eyes too! I'm so distraught by meeting him that I'm compelled to warn others. I cried after meeting him and just wanted to get away from him. This is NOT a caring doctor. Should lose his medical license. No decency.
