Biography

Dr. Sergei A. Sobolevsky is a board certified vascular and interventional physician specializing in minimally invasive image guided treatment of a wide range of conditions, including comprehensive management of varicose veins and spider veins, deep venous insufficiency, peripheral artery disease and limb salvage, uterine fibroids, prostate hypertrophy, pelvic congestion, varicocele, knee pain due to osteoarthritis, and other clinical conditions. Dr. Sobolevsky owns and operates a private practice in Brooklyn, New York. His practice, Downtown Vein and Vascular Treatment Center, is dedicated to helping patients with various vascular conditions. Rated as a Top Doctor by the Castle Connolly magazine Dr. Sobolevsky served as a Chief of Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Columbia University Medical Center where he headed a large academic department based at four major academic hospitals in New York City and upstate New York, including New York Presbyterian Hospital, Morgan Stanley Children Hospital, and Lawrence Hospital, and Allan Pavilion. In addition, he oversaw two large outpatient endovascular centers in midtown Manhattan and upstate New York. Under his directorship the department employed 12 full time academic attendings and trained 3 fellows per year. While at Columbia University, Dr. Sobolevsky was also a Director of New York State Comprehensive Center for Management of Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia, a multispecialty center housing 14 specialists representing 10 medical subspecialties. The HHT Center had a mission of delivering primary care and specialty management of patients with Osler-Weber-Rendu Syndrome. Dr. Sobolevsky spent 7 years as a Chief of the Division of Image Guided Medicine at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY where he developed a busy Interventional Radiology practice focusing on interventional oncology, complex venous reconstructions, uterine fibroid embolization, prostate artery embolization, dialysis maintenance, hepatobiliary interventions, genitourinary interventions, dialysis maintenance, and other modalities. Dr. Sobolevsky trained numerous medical students, residents, and fellows, extensively published in peer reviewed journals, presented at national and international conferences, and taught clinical courses on various endovascular and image guided techniques in the US and internationally. Dr. Sobolevsky received his specialty training in Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology and Image Guided Medicine and Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center of Harvard University in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated with the MD degree from the University of Colorado Medical School in Denver, Colorado where he was recognized with a prestigious Best Western Student Researcher award. He subsequently trained in General Surgery at Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and Radiology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He also received his MBA degree from the MIT Sloan School of Management in Boston, Massachusetts.
